MRPs.......

Do any of you guys use an MRP as yourpost-workout shake? I've notice many have maltx. as the carb source, so I was thinking they should only be used PW.............thoughts?
 
I've made my own MRP for PWO:

Whey
Oats
Dextrose

I then go home and eat a proper meal an hour later.

Some MRPs are made with whole grain carbs which would be a better choice at non-workout time than maltodextrin. I would imagine you could make a pretty good (better?) MRP with casein, oats and flax though for use at non-workout times.
 
Ijust have a ton of myoplex and thought maybe I'd use them PW.........then have a small meal afterwards before bed.............
 
I thought you wanted something faster than maltodextrin for PW. I now drink a sports drink during then just protein afterwards.
 
myoplex are too thick for me pwo
i just use whey and gatorade now.....
but isnt malto pretty high GI? so if you can get it down it would be fine pwo

malt and dex and comparable in the "fast acting" carbs............

Yes. I add malto to my PW shake. It's the only time of day I take an MRP. Every other meal is real food.

LOL yea I think myoplex, and mesotech was having a race to see who can be the first one to make a shake that turns into a bar once you drink it!!

Yup..thats what I'm afraid of...............not being able to get a meal in before bed due to the thickness............

Hi GI won't make much difference in this case because it's post workout.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't use any of the MRPs mentioned for pw.

I always use designer whey post workout and then eat a solid protein meal about an hour later like 2 chicken breasts and a veggie or fish and a veggie. I hardly ever eat carbs at night but if I am going to then I do it on workout days.
 
For me its either a whey shake or my biggest meal of the day. Often both. The whey shake wont even fill me up, so Ill drink it while Im driving home, then as soon as I get home Ill eat my biggest meal of the day. Im not big into splitting meals so Ill sometimes take in 130 grams of protein at a time or more. My protein shakes have 90 grams as is. I try to split things up somewhat, but my main concern is getting it in. My body seems to use it all, since it isnt running through me. Ill just be full for long periods.
 
Check out the Protein ISO-AGB from anafit. The cool thing about whey isolate is it's digestion time is very minimal. After you train you want the nutrients to get into your system quickly. A lot of proteins have a mixture of casium and concentrate among other proteins. This does work, but from my experience, The faster I get it in the better.

You can add carbs to your shake this way. I usually stay away from milk and fruit sugar after I train due to both of them being liver specific.

My postworkout meal is when I take in the bulk of my carbs and Protein too Beast.

Yeah my post workout post workout shake meal is normally my largest as well.
 
maybe the most ideal time would be first thing in the am? I have a free 20 pack sample that I just want to use.......anyone use them as their first meal?

I do MRP with added protein first thing int he morning...my stomach doesn't do well when i eat food first thing.
