The ratios you list are they for the first week only? b/c later in the article u say the fat/protein ratio should be 50/50. So after my first week of following the ratios u outline, do I go to 50/50? Also, this mourning marked the 48 hour period on this diet. The keto strip gave me a 15 reading. What number should I aim for? And is there a number that is dangerous?

I'm not sure where you got the ratios because these are the ratios from my manual, no 50/50 here

********************
Ketosis:
Day:
1-> 85%fat/15%protein--BMR-5%
2-> 75%fat/25%protein--BMR-10%
3-> 65%fat/35%protein--BMR-15%
4-> 70%fat/30%protein--BMR
5-> 70%fat/30%protein--BMR-10%
6-> 65%fat/35%protein--BMR-15%
************************

NO need to aim at any number, as long as you're in Ketosis you'll be fine. No numbers are dangerous unless you're diabetic.

Mr. x - this is the quote that is confusing me- "In practice, most people end up eating about 1 gram of fat for every gram of protein. Ketosis almost always establishes with 1/1 ratios.(fat/protien-grams-)." isn't that 50/50?

I think %s are in reference to calories.

So, 1g fat = 9 cal. and 1g protein = 4 cal.

If I eat a 2g item with 1g from fat and 1g from protein, I am eating 13 cal. (1g * 9 cal. + 1g * 4cal = 13 cal.). So, my % calories from fat is 69% (9 cal. / 13 cal. = 69%) and my % calories from protein is 31% (4 cal. / 13 cal. = 31%). This is not 50-50.

Penn94 is correct....

Kibslib,

when I say 50/50 I mean the ratios, but you have to look at the calories. If you eat 1 g fat/1g protein
1g fat=9cal 1g protein=4 cal
total cal 13
that comes out to around 70% protein/30% fat...nothing major.
It's a 50/50 caloric breakdown.
