My Logitech was slow when I used FF, I went into mouse properties in Control Panel and increased the page number of scrolls vs clicks of the wheel.

Probably no help to you at all.

the scroll fnx on my touch pas on the lap top is what isnt working...I know its related to Mozilla...but I just downloaded it so Im not familiar with it

OK,

There is an option in the control panel of the mouse that says something like "use the scrolling function only with Office related programs" or something like this.

remove the checkmark from it... It has nothing to do with Mozilla, scrolling behavior is a system-wide setting... This is just an example of mozilla being pwned by Windows

I don't know what the answer is but I was just looking at your avatar and if you really look at it, it looks like an old puckered ass.

Just thought I would throw that out there.

Have FF at home and scroll works just fineI have no idea why but I can ask my roommate.

Make sure you tell the roomie that is a touch pad on a lap top

Thanks Doll

thanks Pin...

but again....that is referring to a mouse specifically...not a touch pad I think...as manipulating those options didnt change anything

you have a touchpad driver issue.

BTW; for windows it's the same: an input device, there is something calls Hardware Abstraction Layer that does this trick.

My advice is to check for a newer touchpad driver than the one that shipped with the machine at the HP site.

a. you're stingy.
b. don't scroll
c. this new laptop of yours is the suck. send it to me and i'll bake you cookies.
d. Killahbee is a homo.

Have you gone into Preferences->Advanced->Mouse Wheel?

Guys...its the SCROLL function for the touch pad...not the actual mouse

Still - Dunno bout the rest but I agree with point D - TOTALLY

so the driver is ok for explorer and netscape but not FF??

it can be... drivers are tricky business... Graphics cards drivers, for example, are updated all the time because they work perfect for one game but not for another.

wtf is a scroll fnx?

i didnt read anything above, but try getting a new driver for it. that happens sometimes. reinstalling mozilla also takes care of little bugs, for soe reason - like the cursor apprearing on threads etc etc

cheerios

Bloody Graphics card drivers. I've had a game break after release due to NVidia updating their drivers and breaking one of their own interrogate functions. We ended up having to release a patch which did a test to see whether it was safe to do a test.

Synaptics touchpad? Upgrade to the latest drivers and then...

The fix is to edit the file c:\program files\synaptics\syntp\syntpenh.ini

Copy the line that says:
[Netscape Navigator/Communicator]
WT = "*Netscape 6*"
SF = 0x10000000
ST |= 0x00004000

and put this below it

[Mozilla]
WT = "*Mozilla*"
SF = 0x10000000
ST |= 0x00004000

It does not fix scrolling for all Moz apps ,ie scrolling in mail may not always
work, but at least scrolling will now work for web browsing.

If no one's answered you by the time i get home I will. I have a laptop with scroll pad, and use ff on it, I'll tell you how to set it up.

what kind of laptop is it?

If you have high speed internet, do the following
1. IE is part of the OS , whereas Mozilla is not so I would suggest virus scanning , spyware and adware checking the laptop (make sure you select "make a backup" before it does anything) http://housecall60.trendmicro.com/en/start_corp.asp
Must be done in IE
2. reboot if the above asks you too
3. go to windows update and check to see if your using the latest drivers for your touchpad. Touchpad drivers should be associated with the laptop. You are right in that a mouse and a touchpad are different items. I'm not sure what your laptop is but WindowsUpdate will check that so
http://www.windowsupdate.com
must also be done in IE
4. reboot if that asks to... :Bill Gates:
5. What version of mozilla are you using? The latest stable version is http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-1.0.7&os=win&lang=en-US
I would make sure it's 1.07
6. check device manager
Generally right click "my computer" and select properties at the bottom. A window with 7 or so tabs should pup up. Click the tab that says "hardware" The top botton on that tab should say 'device manager". Just check to see if mouse and pointing devices do not have a yellow "?" or a red "X" by them.

Since it is working in explorer then this is prolly not the problem

Hope all that spew helps
