The U.S. Navy’s troubled Littoral Combat Ship, a vessel intended to be small and speedy for use in shallow waters close to shore, lacks the firepower it needs, a top U.S. navy commander said in a classified memo.

Copeman’s memo, prepared late last year at the request of Admiral Jonathan Greenert, the chief of naval operations, indicates the Navy may be starting to re-examine the $37 billion program. The ship has been beset by troubles, including cracks and corrosion, its price has doubled since 2005 to $440 million per vessel and a decision to build two versions will add to longterm operating costs.

“The mission packages aren’t ready,” said Polmar, the naval analyst. “We’ve got the least capable 3,000-ton warship in the world.”

Full story.

People inside the Navy call it "Little Crappy Ship". Not a good sign from the world's premiere superpower. Yet we're apparently going forward with it anyways as-is.

Is there anything to do with government that makes sense anymore?

free birth control
all the pain meds wanted for the elderly vs curing them
and citizen ship to all who want to come here..

sounds right..

One must assume that the government operates on the cusp of financial disaster, every single dollar is more than needed to keep chugging along...even the smallest cuts can be
critical...for example, cutting this ship program would result in
-air traffic controllers getting laid off
-same with meat inspectors
-the innocent children could not get bfast, lunch, and dinner paid for
at school, only lunch
-police and fire furloughed and forces reduced

So hansel STFU, quit being racist/gun clinging/right wing kook...accept
that the navy knows best.

How is any of what I posted in this thread racist/gun clinging/right wing kook? I thought I was actually agreeing with the Navy in their assessment here that this program is critically flawed.

Do you really think American government can do no wrong?

Well then gutdamn I think he over-elaborated his point lol. Maybe it would've been too obvious if he just posted the last sentence.

i'm insulted that you actually thought that was a legit post of mine.
can i not know a good mi bro :( ?

Idk MI peeps don't elaborate so much to deceive, especially during hibernation months. You must've picked it up from all that time on the west coast.

now in days you gotta get creative, not like back in 2001 when a bro could decieve with few words.
inception style these days, many layers of deception

$23 BILLION was given to defense companies, unions, backdoors to politicians, lobbying organizations and jobs in districts for certain politicians.

So I think it did what it was designed to do. Oh, some problems and need to spend more money? Even better! Look at how 9/11 brought out all the vultures wanting to make money off the 9/11 site and keep collecting paychecks for years with no desire to do anything besides let the site sit there.
