In Madden, if you sign a player for 2 years and the old fart retires after 1 year, do you eat the salary for that last year or does retirement void the contracts?

In the NFL you eat the salary so I would imagine that Madden would stay true to the salary cap design and force you to eat the salary as well. Five bucks says I'm wrong about madden though.
