more on the plane passenger conversation... she said they were armed with...

I live 45 minutes from where the 4th plane crashed in PA. I think you are right by saying they made the ultimate sacrafice. God Bless Them All!!!!

They may have told the passengers they had bombs as well. If someone knew what they were planning to do I'm sure they would have been overtaken by passengers/crew.

My question - how did they get the knives past the metal detectors? Box cutters - those I can see getting past but knives???

i wonder if they worked for the airline in baggage or something and that's how...?

A good thought but highly unlikely since different airlines were involved. If they were all one airline then that could have been a major issue.

well it'll be a while before we know... probably a long while.

i just keep shaking my head in disbelief. this is so surreal... it's like i just watched a real-life action thriller movie. horrible.

Well as an ex flight attendant I can think of several different scenerios. One of which is that anyone with some knowledge how things operate in the air would know that usually the flight attendant in front galley will just ring the cockpit with a button located on the front communications panel, most often the pilots cockpit will then unlock the door w/o confirming it is the f/a (they are supposed to but they get lazy). I am sure that the f/a's
were up serving at the time that the plane turned back towards NY. The highjackers could gone up front rang the bell and gotten in before anyone could do anything.....or he might just had to deal with a f/a then ring the bell. If the highjackers didn't know how to get in the c/p then he has to take a flight attendant and threaten her and make her do what is necessary to let him in . If a highjacker is threatening me with a knife like that I would never ring the bell to let him in....forget it, and most any f/a wouldn't do that, training dictates this. If they c/p senses any trouble in back such as a hostage situation they will keep that door locked training dictates that.

I would guess if they didn't get on as a passenger, look to the catering trucks.

Knives are very deadly and very hard to defend against, especially in close quarters, even if you know what you are doing. And remember, most on the planes are unarmed civilians, who most likely haven't ever been in a fight.

I'm guessing that they grabbed a stewardess and put the blade to her throat and said they would kill her if anyone tried shit. People on the plane did not know they were on a suicide mission. I would obey their orders to prevent death upon that one person because I know the government would fuck them up when we landed. That's my theory on what probably happened anyway.
