Can anyone imagine NY after being hit by a 40 foot tidal wave?

When lapalma goes...and it's a when, not if situation there will be a 1,000 foot high wall of water that will hit the east coast from Miami to NY.

Everybody's gone surfin....surfin USA!!!!

Hey Wodin. Is this Jabez? I thought he was a Hut, not a Biblical character.

The island of Lapalma in the Canaries is your run of the mill volcanic island with one really unique exception. There are thousands of these porous falts that have been eroding for centuries and at some point in time the entire eastern side of the island is going to slide into the ocean. When form of land slide occurs into a body of water an wave is produced and the size of the land slide determines the wave size. Hence a couple hundred million cubic tons of earth hitting the ocean at one time will make for a very big wave. Known as a mega Tsunami. It travels at over 200 miles per hour and this one will be over 1000 feet high. Kiss the east coast goodbye.....

That's why I own what will be beach front property. In SE PA!

would the potential landslide from the rocks and shit really be that damn powerful? thats like asteroid power and dont forget the wave will lose intensity with that 1/d4 shit (i think? its been a while since i did any physics?)

ahh

just saw what wodin wrote....thank god i didnt apply to a welsh uni :)

'It's entirely possible you'd see 50-metre waves coming ashore in Florida, New York, Boston, all the way up to Greenland, and in some cases reaching up to 10 km inland.'

Dr. Simon Day

I've seen other estimates as low as 40 feet. I guess you NY's better hope for low-tide.
