Anyone make their own wine?

I'm going to purchase a kit , but do I need a special kit if I will not be making grape wine but cherry wine instead? Are all kits created equal?

Help from ANY OF the home brewers would be appreciated!

Thanks!

My darn hubby told me to handle it....Typical!

HUMORME..I do not drink..

I'm thinking that man of mine is goining to have to send me to Napa to find my answer....I bet if I did some fast talking to him I 'd have him convinced of this plan..lol

NO HOME WINE MAKERS ROUND HERE I GUESS...DAMN!

My dad used to make it.

Apparently there was a "good" batch and a "bad" batch.

Rather unfortunately my buddy and I drank most of the "bad" batch, and it tasted like shit.

I know...I'm just picking with you. :)

I don't have any experiences with homebrew stuff. NAPA sounds like a deal to me if he wants some that bad.

Nice avatar vix.....you do have some nice ones.

I made some wine a couple of years ago with my brother but since I´m swedish I´m having problems explaining the technical parts in english.

But.. the more sugar you pour into the wine the more alcohol you get :) Damn, the wine was sweeter than cottoncandy but we made it like 18%alc.

(I think it was like 12-15lbs of sugar in 4-5gallons of wine)

You used grapes right? I want to use cherries and am UN-SURE if it's the same process as with the grapes.

I can find the kits on line but am NOT sure if I use the same amounts of yeast for the cherries as I would for grapes.

I understand the fermentation process...Just un-sure about the ingred.(yeast)combo ....arrrgh!

Thanks for the info, Roadblock

A few friend and I use to make decent shine out of corn / "taters" in college :) Proofed out at over 180 +. A few times we used it in vats of purple jesus.

These guys sell good wine and beer kits.

fyi --- It's all in the mash.

Thank You Wodin.

I'll give them a call when they open!

I can't find shit on the web as far as the answer to my question on the yeast amounts needed. I tried at least.

Now get your ass on line to Cheap Tickets and get me my plane ticket to Napa...hehe

Thanks again sweetness!
