Montrealers

I posted this on the clubs board, but I know more people are likely to see it here...

I'm about to move back to my lovely hometown, Montreal, after an absence of four years. I don't know what the hot spots are anymore.

I'd be much obliged if those of you who live there could list me your favorite:

Restaurant - I'm a food snob! What place would you die to eat at? What do you order there? I love L'Epicerie, in the old port...

Club - I used to like China (loooooove Quicksound... anyone know where they're playing now?)...

Lounge - Jello Bar used to be cool... Somewhere not too packed, with really good music and a classy crowd

Afterhours - I adored Sona but I'm told it's not the same vibe anymore... How's Aria? I never got to Stereo, is that still the best place for the music?

Cafe - Any cozy coffeshops?

Sangria - where is the best? Used to love Brioche Doree's on McGill but it's closed now :(

Terrasse - best spot to get good drinks and peoplewatch?

St. Laurent yes, Crescent no. Young goodlooking professional crowd, 21-35... Exclusive and sophisticated suggestions welcome...

Restaurant: on Sofia on St-Laurent and Prince-Arthur, Ti AMo on Prince-Arthur near Ste-Dominique.

Club: Tokyo bar, Sugar, Living. 3 of the best party places.

Lounge: Jello Bar yes still open, also Sofa on Rachel. Nice place wide selection of Porto. But no1 now is Gogo Lounge on St-laurent, get there before 10 otherwise you're gonna wait in the line-up !

Afterhours: Sona sucks. Aria is good, but Stereo still my no1. Best sound system and best Dj's are playing there.

Cafe ?: well any Second Cups or Café Depot.

Best Sangria is at La Bodega/Sancho Panza on Park avenue. Nice resto too.

You're right Crescent street sucks, waste of money....

I hate second cup, cafe depot... You have no idea how much I miss sitting down adn telling a waiter what kind of coffee I want :) No concept of service where I live right now.

I'm going to keep this list, thanks Manny :)

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Thanks again Manny, good karma to you!

As for Parc Safari - I remember back in the eighties when my neighbors pulled up in their driveway with their brand new stationwagon, missing the gas cover, one of the faux wooden side panels, no antenna, and the roof peeled back like a sardine can... Damn those monkeys... :lmao:
