Modafinil???

Also, if you take it often you will quickly build a tolerance to it, at first it seems like a wonder drug but after a few times the effect is much less and taking more ussually causes side effects like nausea/headache. I'm not 100% sure if this is true, but i've read from good sources that the military has already switched back to dextroamphetamine in most cases.

I have heard the opposite about it, that you dont build a tolerance, and that its not addidictive....but I dont know. I know I take it on days I dont get much sleep after work, and I took 400mg for my baseball games sunday, and felt great. Hit the ball as well as I have all year (5 for 8 with 2 walks, 3 stolen bases, 1 double, 1 triple 6 RBI's....and my first ever game winning walkoff hit yeeeaaa for me!!! lol) This could be a placebo affect ofcourse. But i felt focused and energized. And considering our team's average age is 35 and we are playing college teams and it was 94 degree's woth a heat index of 100, I need all the help I can get!!

My experience was with people who had been prescribed to take it everyday for narcolepsy. Worked great for about a week but that was it. If you take it a few times per week for your games it may work much better.

yea, we will see. I plan on using it 1-2 times during the week depending on work, and then every sunday in a higher dose for the games. I'll let everyone know how I respond to it used like that.

At 400mg it does not do that much for me.
I feel that I get almost more from a large cup of coffee.

I know the stuff is good since 2 of my friends used the same stuff, and I mean from the same bag and they really liked it.

I read others did not get much from it either.

Did you get it prescribed to you?? I am gonna try and see my doc and see if he will for me. Not sure how to go about it to make sure my insurance covers it. I know its approved for a shift sleep disorder (Like for working 3rd shift 1 week, then 2nd shift the next) This is kinda what I need it for with the fire dept.

its effective allows for performance on minimal sleep. IMO there are some issues with its effects on brain chemistry. at moderate to high doses, as well as with lower dose extended use, it gives the user a very "detached" perspective of the world. Like to an extent you are "watching what happens".

this is probably why they were/are giving it to fighter and bomber pilots, its makes it easier to run near constant sorties as well as to drop the bombs

I was taking modafinil ~2-3 times/week several years back. I was working full-time, but was consulting on the side as a writer for another company. I used to pop modafinil so I could crank out an extra 20 hours of billable work while everyone else was sleeping. But Mac is correct, I would come in to my "real" job the next morning feeling no fatigue, but definitely felt a general feeling of detachment, to the point that I would get anxious about having to many face to face interactions with people as I just "didn't feel right." I didnt feel "high", but it was that same paranoid feeling you get when you are high and are talking to someone you dont want to know you're high.

I learned to adjust my usage so that I would take it say on thursday, stay up all night, then come in to work friday when it was slow. You definitely do not want to be on modafinil after beubng up 36 hrs straight and then have to give a presentation to your boss/department.

its an interesting drug, but like any it has its caveats. its long term impact on brain chemistry has not been, IMO, evaluated thoroughly. Even short term actual impacts are not well understood.
