Mixing Your Protein With Fibre?

PANTS

New member
Would it be beneficial to mix my night-time casein/whey/egg protein shake mix with some Psyllium Husk fibre?
Or would the fibre hinder absorption?
Cheers,
p

I do that hoping it would slow absorbtion and lower the gi, but also wondered if it hinders protein absorbtion.

whole food (w/ phytic acid) can hinder some minerals absorption (like Mg or Zn) , not proteins

Id figure the Nighttime formula would allready be digesting slow, hence "Nighttime formula". Fiber typically makes you feel fuller and makes protein digest a little slower, so I figure if you would combine the two, the nighttime would digest even slower.
That makes sense to me.

I typically take a little whey protein at night around 20 grams with around 6-10 grams fiber.

Well....we've always been told how a high fibre meal is good when eaten with high fat meals as it will inhibit the absoprtion and therefore help in the expulsion of fat.
So wouldn't this be the same with a high protein meal like a shake? Wouldn't the fibre help the protein through the gut a little too quick for absorption to occur?
Or maybe it binds to the protein in some way?
I've yet to see a Protein shake/MRP with fibre in it. There may be a reason for this?

In my HMO I don't think taking the husks with your protein will interfere with absorption on any significant level.

I take my psyillium on an empty stomach with lots of water - because that shit really needs a lot of water to do it's stuff in the old colon. If anything - I would say that the protein would interfere with the psyillium doing IT'S job - rather than the other way around.

OK, I think I'll take the 2 apart from each other just to be safe.
Husks at around 9pm. Nightime shake around 10pm.
As for the Husks: they make you shit good huh?!?
