minoxidil and topical spiro dosage

Testo

New member
Hi, from those who use minoxidil and topical spiro how much do you use? Ive been using 1 x 1ml dropper of each on the frontal hairline and scalp twice a day.

Wasnt sure if i should be using more of the spiro on the frontal hairline since its proven to me more effective there than the minoxidil.

any info appreciated.

This is not an accurate statement. We have little if any scientific proof on the effectiveness of topical antiandrogens on hair loss, frontal or otherwise. (sorry, NizoralMan ;-) It is true that minoxidil is shown to be more effective in the crown than frontally.
Now, that's proof via controlled studies. Anecdotal evidence I have nothing against, it's just not science, so let's make that clear when talking about what's "effective".

What's up Buffdoc ;)

So in your medical opinion.....what is the superior anti-androgen choice at this point for FRONTAL alopecia "sparing" ?

-Thanks Buff

I'd use finasteride or dutasteride (carefully), minoxidil, Nizoral shampoo EOD or E3rdDay, and, if you think it helps, try spiro: there's just no evidence for it.
It MUST be remembered that 5-AR inhibitors and especially minoxidil must be used continuously; they can't just be used during the cycle and then put away. Any prophylaxis against hair loss that is experienced will be lost within months of discontinuing the meds. Just use 'em if you're worried about your hair until the next generation of preventatives comes along.
Also, people seem to think that finasteride and minoxidil are worthless for the hairline and frontal areas: NO! They have just been shown to be statistically MORE effective in the crown area.
Later, bros.

Hey buffdoc, what do you think of additives some put into minoxidil such as Retin-A and BV to improve effectiveness? (Example Xandrox.)
