Milk and Weightlose

It's high sugar and bloats the hell out of you. It's not rocket science that dairy isn't a good cutting choice

this belongs in the diet section but the bottom line is cow milk is given to baby cows to make them fat.

milk contains a lot of fat and sugar. yes even skim milk, lactose free milk, etc. its also difficult to digest meaning it will cause gas and bloat.

also milk is pasteurized by law, so any benefits you are getting are zapped away. and don't get me started on what they feed those dairy cows and the living conditions, its flat out disgusting and inhumane for a cow to spend its life in a vice standing there and shitting all over itself. it makes me sick just thinking about it..

calcium, blah blah blah... since milk is an acid it depletes the body of calcium and other nutrients. you want calcium? eat veggies. I have written articles on this subject, do some digging if you want to learn the facts.. I don't drink milk and my calcium levels are perfect. besides they put dairy in everything anyway so even if you intentionally don't drink milk you are going to get it one way or another so its best to intentionally avoid it as much as possible!

also I don't like milk as a bulker either ... if you read my bulking sticky in the diet section I leave dairy/milk out including whey protein for a good reason.

1. it bloats of course, and who wants to feel gassy while they are trying to set PR's in the gym?
but most important
2. it destroys your appetite.

so if you are a skinny dude trying to build mass you don't want to depend on shakes and milk to accomplish that. you want to eat whole foods and its hard to eat a lot of whole foods when you feel sick after chugging down a glass of milk or a protein shake. I know if I drink whey protein I don't want to eat anything for a long time and I quickly lose my appetite, and I am a huge foodie.. so imagine a skinny dude who struggles to eat

Hmm okay I was using milk as a calories sync tbh

I would rather you get your calories from real whole foods than depending on milk and shakes.

a lot of guys depend on milk and shakes because its a helluva lot cheaper than eating real food. I see this trend with the younger guys especially. problem is you aren't getting proper nutrition unless you eat real food!!

that means

eggs (humane certified pastured and cage free), not the cheap ass 1.99 eggs where the hens are fed their own feces
grass fed beef
hormone free chicken/turkey/fish
brown rice
sweet potato
fresh fruit
lots of green veggies
etc etc

I agree with this...whey/milk is pro-inflammatory in many people, which leads to low level chronic inflammation, which leads to auto-immune disorders and compromised hormonal levels, etc...not to mention the bloat is right around your midsection...can't get abs that way...

I switched from whey to a protein called Plant Fusion which is made from organic plant protein sources and had an AA profile very similar to Whey...same AA's as whey, no bloat, no inflammation..win/win situation...

Its just that my appetite is literally null at this point. I could literally eat 500calories a day and feel full. Liquids are kinda what I started to relay on

I would love to be able to chit chat face to face about diets with some of you. Your knowledge is incredible. Remember though some of us are on a budget. Ground beef is 1.99 a lb on sale compared to grass fed ground beef which can be upwards of 5.99 a lb. I drink protein shakes with milk in them while bulking, but they are included with my meals. I know what your saying about feeling bloated and gassy afterwards. I just always felt like that was part of bulking. Eat till you are full and cant take another bite. Then eat more!!!

Bloated and gassy=chronic inflammation and not being properly digested. A lot of your "bulk" weight is your body becoming inflamed and holding in water around the midsection area...

you don't want to know how much I spend on food.. it is so troubling that I am scared to look at my bank statement out of embarrassment.

considering I eat all organic food you can imagine.. I probably spend around 2-300 a week on food. no one said bodybuilding was cheap my friend

Bloated and gassy=chronic inflammation ...

this is true. a lot of foods guys eat are inflammatory.. this includes gluten and things that are in breads as well. and they wonder why they have joint pain. not only are they failing to get in their omega fats but they are reversing things and getting inflammatory foods on top of that.

guys need to learn how to make guacamole and put it with their meals, its great for inflammation

In conjunction with this I would highly recommend a book called "The Plan" by Lyn Genet Recitas. Premise is that all people react to foods differently based on individual body chemistry, therefore there is no such thing as a universal "healthy" food, only foods that work for your body type...its a fantastic program and really teaches you how to find out what foods are causing you inflammation and how to test them.

Guac rocks, btw...avocados, lime juice, cilantro, red onion, jalapenos, and sea salt...

Not disputing any of this however, I use occasional nonfat milk, and at least 2-3 whey protein shakes a day. I'm 50, with BF of 8-9%, just maintaining. Don't suffer from gas because of this.
What does give me tons of gas is all the damn broccoli I eat. Just my personal opinion guys.

Not everyone suffered from lactose/gluten issues. Personally neither bother me at all.

That being said, you can get too much calcium and its a lot more common than many people think. Calcium is actually now considered one of the most important indicators for cardiovascular risk.

Calcium without proper magnesium, Vit A, Vit D and Vit K causes problems and there is synergy between them in proper ratios.

just take beano with your broccoli and you will be able to digest it fine.

Is it the avocado that helps the inflammation? I've been eating a fair about lately
