Do any of you know if there is a public way for someone to check if a person was really in any branch of the US military and if so which one and when.
I found a website but it wasnt very helpful, it's for work, a parent claiming PTSD due to serving with no evidence he ever did and his wife saying he never served and it's BS.

I have maximum respect for all our soldiers out there, I'm not trying to put down a person for no reason, y'all know what I work in, hence this is not just for morbid curiosity it's for safety of others.

Any info is appreciated. :rose:

Whether he served or not shouldnt matter. If he is Dx with PTSD, he should be able to produce proof of that Dx. Or you have him psychologically evaluated and let the psychologist decide

He is getting evaluated but it is believed his PTSD comes from a different trauma that also has to do with the maltreatment, also we are trying to show he is not being truthful to us.

Get the DD214 long form from the dept of defense

Yep. Everyone has this no matter what the discharge. Red flag if they "lost" it. I'm not saying people don't but mine is in a safe with birth certificate. It's that important. Plus, it's very easy to request another copy. You can't though.

my house burned down...eat shit I had my 201 file even...and that's effin gone too (way harder to accurately replace)

and because she works for a government entity she most certainly can request his DD214 but be prepared for a long wait.

as far as its easy to get...its a huge PITA for the service member to get let alone anyone else.

You'd be better off going with smurfs suggestion to have him evaluated or Dx in hand.

Did your reading glasses burn too? I SAID it can be lost but is very important. If you had to provide a new one could you? Yes.

He doesn't want to cooperate, he does the minimum on everything and constantly lies, I do believe he has PTSD but for different reasons, we are a nonprofit CBC so we are contracted but not technically goverment so its out of our reach, sounds like I'm not gonna be able to verify this, worth a shot asking for feedback anyway, thanks guys and gals :)

Nan, would it change the outcome of the case in terms of safety? Obviously good to prove in terms of diagnosis and speaks to something else going on mental health wise for this guy. But.. Would it change the final outcome in terms of safety for the kid/ parenting capacity?

no you said "red flag" if its lost

clearly writing isn't your strong suit.

if I was inclined to chase anything through St Louis ever again in my life, yeah I could potentially replace it.

I applied for short form DD214 at the local VA when I first got out to provide to potential employers in the event they requested proof of service. I had it within 6 weeks.

That makes entirely too much sense. Could you not figure out a way to complicate the hell out of it?

Lolol sorry I like it easy

It's just easier to provide a copy of short form and not worry about trying to get it back and whatnot, plus it's noone else's business wtf is on my full sheet. I tried that route first and ended up having to explain which citations meant what, where and why I got the Purple Heart, where I got CARs, what this meant, what that meant blah blah blah.

Civilians don't know shit, much less that it's against the law to even ask what type of discharge you recieved. I started showing short form and they can't see any details of service except dates, name, and basic info

also,

Is anyone else pissed off Nan is always trying to get everyone else to do her work for her?

fuck i'm mad.

I say we deserve a portion of her pay for doing all the got dam work

I thought Latinos were supposed to be hard workers

yeah, I guess you wouldn't have ever changed your last name given you're all penis.

were you a marine by chance?

no, combat medic.....you must be smelling your wife or gf on your dick

wash that shit

I couldn't find my dd214 if I wanted to. Can't tell how many times I've had to re-obtain a copy.

my sig other keeps like 12 copies in his files at work....but he's a tad anal

There's no way to verify other than a dd214 and you can't just request that cause you want to. Only kin can get copies. I just use challenge and pass. What unit were you with, MOS, where'd you deploy to, what unit relieved yours when you left. Ribbons also tell a story. In order to have one you have to have another. IE. a Purple Heart needs a CAR, a CAR needs a campaign ribbon, a campaign ribbon needs a sea service deployment ect...
