Someone give me some help here! I have been working out 6 days a week for over five months doing 30 to 40 mins of weightlifting and 45 to 60 mins a day of cardio and I still have my disgusting pot belly. I am burning at least 1400 cals a day in the gym and take in only 2200 to 2500 cals a day. I am 6'4", weight 270 and have body fat of 24% and I am 58 yo.

Please give me some help as I am going nuts not seeing any results in my gut area. My pants are much looser in the ass but not the waist. So I don't know what's up.

Its sugar .... fast sugars and converted. It spikes insulin and makes your body hold water and fat. This is especially true in men over 40. Take a look at the guys in restruants and their plates.

What to do? Start pulling it out. Read labels and learn about glycemic levels. Push fast sugars down lower and lower. You'll start peeing out the water and burning fat. You'll see a big change in your belly and face first.

Want to go extreme for about 30/60/90 days?
Eat only:
- real eggs
- grilled animal flesh
- veggies ... all kinds
- decafs and water
- little bit of hard cheese and real yogurt

Eat 5 times a day and don't count calories or worry about fat.

Have a blood test before and during this diet change. Watch everything improve.

Have a blood testing to see where your test, free test, esto and PSA are. You might be up (pun) for HRT.

Even with HRT, you have to get your sugar under control.
 
I'll give you another answer that you probably won't like. I'll soften it up by saying that it applies to me as well.

You're lying to yourself. You're shoving more food down your throat than you think. You're not burning as many cals as you think in the gym. I'm not sure how you "know" you're burning "at least 1400" in the gym.

As evidence of this, I submit the following: your complaint is pretty common amongst all groups of people trying to lose weight except one. That group are the patients who undergo bariatric surgery, and whose food intake is thus physically limited. Guess what? Every single one of them loses all the fat. Not one single complaint of "Gosh, I burn x cals and take in (x - a bajillion) and just can't lose weight".

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but I really don't know how else to say it.

In any event, good luck with hitting your goals.

What about nuts? Don't forget to mention that the meats should be lean.
Sugars are a big problem, and so are simple carbs. This is the more difficult part. No bread, pasta, or white and yellow rice. Switch to brown rice, and whole wheat bread.
