Mid/lower back pain...workout ending...

Well, I was doing legs today. I am currently doing high reps (10). I did my 3X10 on squats. Farely easy. Did 2X10 on Leg extensions. Then I went to do my SLDL. I did these without straps today to improve my grip strength. I did have to set the weight down once or twice to regrip. Maybe that did something, but i didnt feel any pain yet. I did 2X10 on those. NEXT, I went to do a plate loaded standing leg curl. I kept my back arched just right. I did my left leg with no trouble. I started on my right leg, and this pain hit me. IT was definately muscle. It felt kind of like the wind was knocked out of me...maybe. It was real sharp and i couldn't really move for a second. I just stayed on the machine. I took a breath or two and finished my set.
AFter that, i layed down and started stretching. I felt tight a moments. I ended my workout early after that.
So, this pain is relatively high on my back. Definately lumbar muscles though, but a good 5 inches about my shorts (at normal height/not thug height).
Any ideas about this? I pull my muscles in my lower back about 3 years ago, but this wasn't in the same spot.

If I make the wrong move doing anything, I can get this super sharpe pain, right in the middle of my lower back. It is a killer pain, and I have no idea what it is from. I never went to the doc to get it checked out. But when it happens to me, I just take some kind of pain killer(the kind varies on how bad it hurts). But the pain for me usually goes away after about a week of relaxing.

So I dont really know what the problem is for you or how to fix it, I just suggest that you relax for a few days and see how things go. Maybe get some heat on it.

A couple years back, I had a similar problem. Lower back pain, especially when exercising...

Turns out it was due to my extremely tight hamstrings. May sound crazy, but make sure your hamstrings are loose, or it could be the reason for a lot of back pain.

A few sessions with a chiropractor, electrical stimulation, and intense stretching, may the pain dissolve.

Try stretching your hammy's big time (hurdler's stretch, touch toes, etc), and your lower back by doing rolls, plows, and the "cat" stretch.
