mid back pain from standing calve raise?

anyone else get this problem? I try to keep my back straight and look straight forward but it always feels like my mid back (t1-t2 area) is being compressed
 
i've never had a problem with them, and i have 2 herniations; one at T9 and the other at T11.

are you using a belt and a pad? i always use both, and it scares me when i read that guys aren't using a belt yet doing massive leg work or deads.
 
i always ended up doing squats, step-ups, and calf raises all at the same weight (pyramids) so i'd do them in that order, then add more weight, do it again. with any weight on your shoulders, your back could begin to bend, so just to be safe, i always kept the belt on. if worn properly, a belt can also help to keep your thoracic in line. at least the one low back harness/vest i have does that, and i've noticed my entire back stays really straight with a belt on as well as the harness. better safe than sorry! back problems are a bitch, i know from personal experience.
 
It won't make your back bend if you use proper form and don't jump ahead of yourself. That pain you're feeling is the stabilizer muscles in your back trying to support the weight. Just let them get used to having a high amount of weight on your shoulders, and they'll be okay in no time.

If you feel pain left or right of your spinal cord, that'd okay. However, if it's a pinching pain directly in the middle of your back (on your spine) and towards the small of your back, stop what you're doing and seek medical help to make sure you don't fuck things up any further.
 
Yeah it's too the left and right of the spine, mid rhomboid area. I've been seeing a chiro because the initial pain freaked me out, maybe I should be seeing a massage therapist instead?? Thanks for your reply bfs
 
No problem man. You probably don't even need a massage therapist. I'd just keep with it, assuming you recently started using heavier weights, those of which your muscles are not used to. If this goes on for a prolonged period (3 weeks maybe) then you can see a massage therapist. It's really nothing dangerous though.
