Microsoft Outlook problems

MrMuscle

New member
I get alot of mails that i cant read, the message i get is

"This HTML message contains script, which Outlook cannot display. This may affect how the message appears"

Ive checked the microsoft update pages, and i cannot find anything that fixes this problem..anybody have any ideas?

it is usually a result of security settings and it is just as well - if they are running scripts like that, they are usually trying to set cookies and they are just junk mail.
you can either ignore them, setup a filter to throw them out when you get them, or change your secuirty settings to something lower or customized.

this applies to both outlook express and regular outlook (if you have the latter, I would recommend turning off the auto preview so that it doesn't always try to execute the script that is in there - since there are viruses that try to exploit that)

yeah im checking the security settings now. So you think all mail that consist of HTML and scripts are mostly junk mail? How come the elitefitness mail are shown then? Thats also HTML based.

nope - not saying that all HTML messages are junk mail - in fact I think outlook express defaults to creating the messages in html as its formatting preference (I personally change it to plain text so that those on unix systems don't have to see the tags of an html message).

as for the scripts - there is very little use for scripting in normal email - so if you have scripts showing up, it is usually junk mail b/c they are doing something webpage related (popping up messages, popping up other windows, shuttling off to other pages, etc etc).

and yeah, elitefitness spam would be considered junk mail IMO too
