Metal Gear Solid 2

Just got this game for PSX2 and all I can say is WOW. The level of detail is incredible and the gameplay itself is amazing.

For example, hair wips around in the wind, water and rain beads on the camera, shadows are integrated into gameplay. It's crazy how Solid Snake has facial features and expresses them during gameplay.

The creator calls it's genre "Tactical Espionage Action" and it is every bit that. The computer AI is freaky and the game seems to be more or less crafted rather than programmed. If a loud sound is created in a protected area, guards will rush in and clear a room, with guns drawn checking all the corners and stuff. Staff can detect you through shadows and loud footsteps...they even bend over to look under tables!

There's also a host of sweet moves--some from past Metal Gear games, and a few are new. Hanging from a ledge, rolling, choking, draggin, hiding bodies in lockers, using a high powered microphone to pick up conversations...It's just all so damned cool.

Okay, now I look like a video game playing dork, but I've been waiting a long damn time for this game.

I just broke down on Saturday and went and bought the PS2. Been playing Grand Theft Auto III for the past 2 days. What a fucking kickass game.

I kind of thought it was weird being "Raiden" instead of "Snake" but I got used to it plus I kind of like Raiden's moves, they're slightly better than old Snakes.

Did anyone get it when Snake first meets Raiden and he didn't want to tell'em his name so he tells Raiden his name is Ltjg. Plisken. You know? Snake Plisken from Escape from New York?

I got really pissed when I wound up being Raiden for a long time. From what I'm told, you spend the remainder of the game as Raiden and Plisken/Snake is your mentor along with the Colonel.

I don't think Jack is even close to Solid Snake's coolness (cartwheels?), and his girlfriend pisses me off with that stupid romance talk. This guy is in the middle of war and she's arguing with him over April 30th's signifigance.

You aren't a DORK. Metal Gear Solid is one of the GREATEST games EVER made.
XBOX is going to release a version. Called Metal Gear X or something like that. Im thinking of buying the game now (so I can get it) and buy the PS2 when the price comes down.

MGS2 rocks. Developers are just starting to tap into the power of the PS2, and look what you get - MGS2 , Devil May Cry (kick ass game), GTA3, GT3, etc... it's a good time to be a gamer. Especially if you're a PS2 owner

Give Devil May Cry a look. It's called a "Stylish Horror Action" and it's every bit that. Simply beautiful.

LOL, I never got a chance to post a thread about Devil May Cry since I was so busy playin it!!!

I just beat it in hard mode and found all the secret areas. This is by far, the best game of it's type. TWO GUNS IN BOTH HANDS AND UNLIMITED AMMO is a wonderful combination. I love the slow down effects and the fighting system is cool. It is very reminiscent to N64's Zelda but that's what made that game so cool. I gotta admit, though...the camera needs a bit of tweaking.

Still a must have, as well as MGS2.

Hey, I've heard rumor about Golden Eye 007 coming out? Is that right? Man, that was my favorite game on Nintendo 64. It would be so fucking awesome on PS2. I've heard a lot about Devil May Cry, I'll definately check that one out.

Metal Gear solid is the best shooter game ever. Youre right, Rose anoyed the heck out of me but I do think Raiden is a cool guy. If someone has to be snake's preceeding mercenary this guy is my number one pic.

Where the heck have you been dude? I haven't heard hide or hair from you in a while? That would rock if Golden Eye came out on PS2 . Have you played Medal of Honor frontline yet. It gets pretty cool after the first level. Great first person shootem up game. Give it a try.
