Mental strategies to avoid carb-up day guilt?

I know a carb-up is necessary. Its anabolic, boosts leptin, replenishes glycogen.

But I always feel guilty when I carb up and it kind of ruins the expirience for me. Am I alone? I like feel bloated and dont even want to leave my house.

What do you guys/gals do or tell yourselves to alleviate this? Some sort of Carb-Up/Cheat day Mantra?

I hear ya bro. As soon as i'm finished my first carb meal, i feel like i should'd of done it. When doing ckd, I feel like i should be carbing, when i'm carbing, I feel like I should be on ckd. lol.

I hear that. I not only don't want to leave the house the day of, but the day after a refeed too; I haven't had one in 3 weeks because I can't fit that hermitic behavior into my schedule right now. (Out of town guests, night school, people depending on me for rides, etc.) It's not even a bloating thing, either - I don't have big weight swings after a carb fest anymore, probably due to body composition - I just mentally feel awful. Overly emotional, pessimistic, speedy in a bad way, and again, hermitic.

Picturing the awesome workouts I'll have with newly reglycogenated muscles, and reminding myself repeatedly that refeeds are good for the metabolism, are the only things that make them worthwhile. The carbs don't even taste so great after the first couple of mouthfuls. I'd much rather be in a happy, peaceful, Zen place with my keto food.

Looking forward to seeing other responses in this thread...

I`m so tempted to go more than a week without carb up, but I agree with the improved workouts you`ll have the next couple of days so... and it`s like clockwork I keep losing. If it aint broke...

I could live on CKD forever, just don`t take away my ECA though. lol Actually I`m almost at my goal of single digits bodyfat or 200 pounds which ever came first. So I gotta start doing that other thing, uhhh bulk? I have`nt really planned that out yet. It`s gonna suck.

Actually I don't have this problem. I do a carb cycle M-F by going higher carb on wo days ( higher in starchy carbs approx 70-80 grams plus 3-4 cups veggies) Lower carbs on non wo days, (25-30 grams starchy carbs plus 3-4 cups veggies.

Now Saturdays I go much higher starchy carbs and very low protein and fats. Sunday is a recoup day where most my carbs are from veggies or from starchy carbs high in fiber like sweet potaotes.

I have knocked out all the shitty sweet carbs out of the Sat carb up and have devolped my own plan it goes like this:

first meal is cream of rice with 2-3 egg whites (cant get totally away from protein, plus egg whites do slow down the insulin release.) I add in a couple of strawberries.

Next meal ( I eat every two hours or so) Is a brown rice and wild rice mix I like with a very small amount of protein powder added.

Next is my "goodie" a whole container of Hageen Daz choc sorbet.
its all sugar and no fat. only 480 some cals.

no more sugar after that .

Next meals will alt. between sweet potatoes and rice.

Absolutely no guilt, no bloating.

Just fat loss and great workouts.

I used to carb up on cookies and crap wont do that no more!!!!!!!

Also use r-ala on this carb up day. I keep fat as low as humanely possible.

I simply found for myself which carbs work best. I hope you can too-valerie
