OK guys... I am in the process of opening my own business.. a men's clothing store as well as my own men's clothing label..

i was hoping for some input on your shopping experiences and needs..
any or all questions you guys could answer for me would be greatly appreciated!!!

1) average size in shirts and sleeve length, pants and length???
2) how much do you normally buy in one particular store? item count.
3) casual or work?
4) favorite thing to buy?
5) types of socks you prefer?
6) favorite brands? designer and lower end...
7) do you shop alone or with your wife/girlfriend?
8) do you like boutiques or big department stores?
9) loose or fitted clothing?
10) favorite type jacket?

My biggest gripe is that the arm size on a medium shirt is often very similar to that on a xx-xxxl shirt. I would like a spacious, well air-conditioned store, where the staff aren't pushy or too fashionable themselves. If I can buy all my items in one store then all the better, no favourite brands.

Shirts go from 12 - 20 in collar sizes the majority of men where between 14.5 to 16.5.

Suits go from 32 short to 52 long. The majority fit between 40 - 46.

Pants to go from around 26 - 52 waist the majority fit into the 30 - 38 range.

I like shops...men don't call shops boutiques.

I prefered Hicky Freeman and Brooks Brothers.

These days I only wear black...all black.. jeans and basic shirts.

Its a finding myself thing...

Go with a business casual line as well as a classy casual evening wear.

1.) No idea on most of these. Large. 26 waist, 31 length.

7.) I shop with ym 4 year old daughter, she picks my colors.

1. The average man has a medium sized shirts with a 32 pant leg.
2. 1-2 items
3. casual mostly, but work is up there, too
4. I like buying shoes
5. I like argyle socks
6. I like Mavi for casual jeans and montreal designers for uppr-level
7. I shop with females
8. I prefer more selection (so larger stores)
9. I like clothing that fits well but I do not necessarily like tight clothing.
10. Cashmere 3/4 coat

First off good luck with the business. Retail is a very tough business to make money from, so hope you have something good to offer. Here goes:

1) A lot of guys here are bodybuilders so they will have out of norm measurements. In general though, I'd say around 15-18 inch necks for shirts. Pants definitely go with the standard 32x32.

2) If it's a store I don't normally frequent usually 1 or 2 items. If it's a store I frequent usually, but not always, more than 2 items but definitely under 10. I don't ever buy in large spurts.

3) Don't really understand this question. Do you mean do I prefer casual or work clothes?? If so, I prefer a store that offers clothing that is both casual, yet "workable".

4) Definitely shirts (not talking about button shirts, but long sleeve fitted shirts). Or jackets.

5) Thin socks. If we're talking athletics, than low-cut.

6) I'm from Canada so some brands/stores you are probably not familiar with. One of my favourite stores is Tristan & America. Other than that, Gap is okay as that is kinda my preferred style. I like Donna Karan clothes.... sheik, sophistcated, and both dressy yet casual.

7) Sometimes alone, sometimes with a female (usually sister).

8) I prefer boutiques. Department stores sometimes. I find that the large deparment stores are too broad. I like my stores to be very directed and specific. I like my stores to have their very own style and direction. Department stores are too general sometimes.

9) Fitted.

10) Leather, suede, or cashmere. Tend to prefer 3/4 length lighter jackets.

I wear a 19.5, 36/37, I always see way to many 14-16 inch collar shirts left over, and short armed freak shirts with 20 inch necks and 30 inch arms- who are these midget freaks? more big clothes, and make XL and XXL truly XL and XXL, not just for little guys that want to get into an XL(ie, too small), or just short fat dudes. As for pants I would agree with what Bodhi says, just make sure that you have some for dudes with legs and not just the no leg having abercrombie model crowd....

only 1-2 things, not cause I would not want to buy more, but cause there is usually not that much to pick from (see above)

large is a good average ,depending on the market you want,here shirt sizes start large and on for the most part, and I like sleeves that stop 2-3 inches above the elbow, pants 30 length because I am fucking short,but you should also accomadate the very tall .

2) how much do you normally buy in one particular store? item count. I usually shop all in one store,I am a guy I hate
shopping,just let me get it over with.

3) casual or work? -casual for me since I am a student

4) favorite thing to buy?
I like sharp dressing clothes like knit tops and jeans that have decent leg room with a nice boot cut,but still look sharp not like a rapper

5) types of socks you prefer? tube socks work for me

6) favorite brands? designer and lower end...
I buy designer from the outlet,usually I can make a pair of wal mart jeans and a knit top look like I have decent coin

7) do you shop alone or with your wife/girlfriend? alone because my girlfriend has no fashion sense
