well just got back from the meet and even tho i didnt set any pr's or do anything spectacular i had a blast and learned a little bit in the process.

squat
1st-- 281lb raw-went down deep and was easy
2nd-363 3/4lb-same
3rd-385 3/4lb-went down too deep and couldnt get back up...made me so damn mad bc i know i couldve gotten that i was just too worried bout makin depth bc i never had anyone watch my depth b4

bench
1st-203 3/4 raw-red lighted bc i racked it too soon(got ahead of myself and wasnt thinking)
2nd-270lb-went real smooth
3rd-292-went down great but on way back up got stuck bout 6-8"off my chest...owell...weakness i need to work on

dl
1st-303lb-went up fast
2nd-369 1/4lb-good
3rd-385 3/4lb-didnt get it bc i jerked on the way up and he said i paused...the bar never went down at all but he said i paused

went pretty well considering it was my 1st i guess but i still think i couldve gotten that last squat and i know i couldve the dl but owell......i was freakin out bc i thought u had to wear a belt for dl and i never have training and i tried it and it was killin me so i asked the promoter and they said i didnt have to.

i liked it and ill prolly do it again...but wouldnt ever trade it for strongman.

live and learn my man, how did you do overall???
You place???
and what was the top lifter's number btw?

Do you feel you adequetly prepared for this meet???

i placed 1st by default...and the only reason i didn feel prepared for this was that i didnt really know the commands till i got there and i didnt realize u had to wait for the rack command and messed up my easiest lift other than that i think i was prepared....im not sure on the top lifter. i know the guy w/the highest coeffecient was in his 50's and in the 275 i think..he dl 744 . by bw to weight lifted he only beat a 138lb kid by 10 kilos. kid squatted around 360 and dl 350..not sure of bench. there were alot of masters there. the guy that promoted it is the only man over 70 to ever squat over 600

hey man...more importantly than how you placed or how you did compared to anyone else is that you competed in your first pl comptetition.

good job

yea thanks...ya gotta point...man i was nervous that first time up there lookin straight at the crowd while i was squatin

think about it this way: theres a difference between squatting in the gym and squatting in front of a judge. you did great for your fist meet and technically thats a PR meet total since its your first meet

thanks man...and yea it was meet pr's and i dont even squat in a gym..i squat in my garage..i went from maybe 1 person watching to about 60.

way to go king c......... 1st place in your first two strongman competitions and now 1st place in your first powerlifting contest.

whats next bodybuilding???

good job man, those are some good lifts.................

and also remember this, you were on the 9 week wsb program just like me. and you didnt do a max squat/dead/ and bench in one day. you broke it up over a couple of days.

so besides being first time at a meet, it was your first time doing all 3 maxes in one day.

na i think ill stick to strongman with a meet here and there...no bb for me...and yea it was first time for that huh..thanks alot man

Remember what I said...

1) You set MEET Pr's...not gym pr's.
2) You learned a lot!!!!! (this is worth sooooo much).
3) You have only ONE direction to go from here.

awesome job..after your first meet...it get addicting!! you just have to do another. when is your next one? how is your training going to be setup now? tb

im unsure but if i have it in me 2wks after boston is an apf meet in st louis in feb....i still use wsb principles on lower and i kinda mixed wsb and mm on bench days with more overhead on one day. i'm gonna be hitting grip 2-3x week. and hitting lats hard and my upper back...but i gotta work on my weaknesses for strongman first and foremost..but i'd like to hit my weaknesses on bench also

i would just go and watch that one. APF meets are the best!! give yourself time to train and clear up any of those weaknesses. if you need any help, feel free to email me brotha!! tb

Everybody has summed it up fairly well already. However, it must be said that you did yourself proud. Great work.

Nice work King...

You got your 1000lbs. Now improve your core, squat, deadlift, and pressing power... become a force.

I totally forgot about your goal to have a 1k total!!!! That really is impressive...especially considering the size of your wrist.

better not trade it for strongman. got 1k and next time 1050 then 1.1k. I hope you take a break and eat well and come back evenm stronger.
