Meds for Insomnia

I don't know what exactly i would call my condition. It's not really insomnia... more, i think i'm nocturnal. It is to go without saying that sleeping during the day and working at night has not only fucked up my training but my diet as well. I need to somehow get on the right sleeping pattern, but with finals coming up i doubt that i can. In two more weeks i will have a month off from school.
My question is this:
What can i ask my doctor for to help me go to sleep?
You see, not only am i not tired at night but also my mind can't stop racing about 101 things. I guess i'm stressed as hell over finals, but still... i can handle stress! It's my shitty workouts that i can't handle.

Please, any advice would be appreciated

oh, by the way, my first class is in about 2 1/2 hours.

Hi Benzi:
Not sure I can help you in 2 1/2 hrs.

But have you tried Melatonin? You get
it at a Health Food Store. It helps to relax
you and not wake up feeling drugged.

Good Luck

Pamela

i've been loaded with work and stress... i told my doc i was on european time and couldn't get to sleep and it was affecting x, x, and x part of school/life. she gave me two weeks worth of lorezepam.

it is great stuff. i just yawn a lot, and when i wake up i feel like i slept on my own (not drowsy or chemical).

why am i up? i have too much homework to go to bed, and i am actually pretty tired (a good thing, because i'd be wide awake until 6am and stuff and then not be able to function during the day).

hope this helps.

just explain your situation. also beware that consistent use of sleeping pills can get you addicted to them..

Benzi....Pamela has a great suggestion with the melatonin and since your training is all fucked up I would say that your not nocturnal just stressed out big time.

Also try kava kava - liquid dropper form to help you relax enough for the melatonin to kick in.

Don't do the melatonin for more than a week though because it will start to interfere with your bodies natural production.

Pamela, Smallmovesal, Wodin - thanks a lot for your advice
i just know that once i get through these next 2 hell weeks life would be a whole lot easier

Heres a few of insomnia meds I would recommend.

Zimovane(Zopiclone) is a good med for insomnia. Use it short term and it MAY re-setablish your sleeping pattern. It is not supposed to be addictive, it is a hypnotic and works on the sub receptors that benzodiazepams such as diazepam work on. There have been a(very) few cases of addiction. I would reccomend a dose of between 3.28mg-7.5mg(nocte). This is the one in my(professional) opinion might suit you best.

Promethazine is sometimes used for the long term management of insomnia, I won't go into how it works but it is basically an antihistamine with sedative effects. The dose for this is betweeen 25mg-100mg(nocte) be aware that this drug is famous for it's next day 'hangover'.

Flunitrazepam(Rohypnol) is an excellent for short term insomnia. It is a short acting benzodiazapam and has a high addiction poterntial. Dose 15-30mg(nocte). This drug has hardly any hangover.

"Ambien" is great stuff. Sleep like a baby.
But you'll need a prescription from your doc.
Just tell him your problem and don't make up stuff.
Not being able to sleep is a perfectly good reason for him to prescribe.

Your suggesting she take some roofies?

That would be just beautiful . . . .

What's a roofie....?

I said Flunitrazepam is an excellent soloution(short term) insomnia. There is nothing wrong with short term benzo's when they are used appropriatley. It is only when they fall into the wrong hands they are missused(ie date rape).

This person seems to have a disrupted sleep pattern and something like Rohypnol would be good at re-setablishing sleep pattern.

But if you read my post properly, then you will see that I suggested Zimovane(also an hypnotic).
