I was reading MD and saw this article and found it pretty interesting...
"The Human Genome Project identified approximately 40,000 genes that dictate every aspect of human physiology including height, eye color, enxyme activity , susceptible to disease, capacity to gain fat and muscle, and athletic ability. British muscle physiologists, led by Geoffrey Goldspink, identified a new anabolic chemical called mechano growth/repair factor (MGF) that is prodced by the same gene that makes igf-1. Following weight training the gene produces MGF, which jumps starts muscle hypertrophy. They found that a single injection of the gene into a muscle increased its size by 25% in 3 weeks. IGF-1 and HGH are powerful anabolic agents that are popular with bodybuilders and strength athletes. MGF has the potential to be even more effective as a muscle- building drug and could be easily stimulated using gene doping techniques by graduate students with knowledge of genetics and muscle biochemistry. (Br J Sports Med, 39: 787-788, 2005) "
sounds pretty damn good !
