I am a white 31 year old male. I do not believe or tolearate racism. By the same token, I am not responsible for the slavery issues that were prevalent a hundred years ago therefore I don't owe anybody anything. I work hard for a living and I feel that everyone else should as well. If you can't physically work, then there are programs to help you. Anyone else needs to get a life, a clue, and a job, in that order.

I believe in a woman's right to chose.
I am for prayer in schools.
I believe in separation of church and state, not to save religion from the state, but the other way round.
I am for the death penalty in certain cases.
I believe in term limits.
I am for the IRS being killed from the roots up.
I believe in the right to burn our flag. Not because I agree with it, but because the Constitution gives us that right.

I believe that principles and convictions only mean something when it is inconvient to stand by them.

It take a village to raise a child??
It doesn't take a friggin village to raise a child. Society needs to get away from this sentiment and start putting responsibility where it belongs.

I will respect your opinion on any subject provided you respect mine.

For those who take exception to my sentiments - that's OK. That is what the First Amendment is all about.

Thank you.

How do you resolve the inherent conflict in these two statements?

Not a conflict. By state I mean Government specifically.

It could be argued that the educational system in this country could be used to push a political agenda. Just read the history books that are used in the public school system. The United States is rarely in the wrong.

That being said, I do agree with the bulk of what you initially posted.

Zen - playing a little devil's advocate here.

How do you expect to raise a child then, in a dual-income economy?

By making sure that the influence kids get from within the family are stronger than the influences from outside.

That is the way my Mother did it. By herself and making less than poverty level wages.

I do not believe it's ever OK for a man to hit a woman.

I do not believe the government has a role in raising children!

I believe people are accountable for their actions!

I believe teachers and the millitary are more valuable than some asshole who can throw or catch a ball of any size or shape!

I also believe in a woman's right to choose, but believe that Roe V Wade is Unconstitutional.

I believe we need tighter immigration policies.

I believe that guns save lives, and that people take them.

I believe we have more important problems than busting steriod users or dealers.

I believe in God.

I believe that evil exists.

I believe Hillary Clinton is a horrible role model for girls/young women.

I believe in freedom of speech, but also believe that the fighting words statute should be brought back!

single mothers need babysitters, nursery schools, teachers.

Especially single mothers need good male influences on their children.

I think the village metaphor applies in any case, but especially since even two-parent families work all day and need someone to care for their kids while they are gone.

He's already stated he was speaking of the Federal government. And he's not saying he wants mandatory prayer, just the option. I'd let him explain it, but what can you expect from Bungholio?

Wait....what do I hear??

It's the flower children calling...

You just don't get it. Morals and love and encouragement should come from within the family. Do you disagree with that?

So you just stated that single mothers "NEED" male influences over their children.

So a lesbian , or any other mother should not adopt or have children if there is not an appriopiate male role model around????

When someone says he is for prayer in schools, that usually means he is for mandatory prayer. I don't think you can be for prayer in schools (mandatory or optional) and also be for the separation of church and state. Gotta pick one. :)

They are not mutually exclusive terms.

Optional prayer/moment of silence in school should the children desire. And keep the church and state separate where political matters are concerned.

Sort of like against abortion and pro death penalty, huh??

A dual income economy is such bullshit! The only reason a couple both has to work is from failed planning! Maxed out credit cards, a house they could'nt really afford in the first place, two new cars, then they start popping out kids when they know damn good and well they are not financially ready for a family. The American dream is a fucking joke. Learn how to be responsible and be accountable for your spending and investing. Then you can live the American dream!!

Depends on how you define "optional". Does that mean giving each school the option on whether to have organized prayer? Or does it mean that individuals attending public schools have the option to pray on their own during school hours (which I believe they already have the right to do)?

It is parents responsability to raise their children, not the government. I do not have children, because I cannot afford to give them the life I want them to hae, yet. For someone to expect me to pay to raise their children at the same time is outrageous.

I also believe children need fathers.

Nope. I mean EVERY school should have a planned moment of silence/prayer time every morning.

Clear??

I have long suspected that the dual income economy is responsible for a great many of our woes. It is asking too much to work full time and raise small children properly. A 30 year teacher told me that most kids these days are dysfunctional, used to only be 1-2 problem kids in each class.

Man...I am so depressed it almost hurts.:(

Yes. That to me is the very definition of integration of church and state.

How could you possibly misconstrue that comment.

So, you automatically assume that silent time would be prayer time??

I hear you ... BUT...

Most women have to stop thinking about having kids after 40, okay?

This means that they have a limited time within which to become 'successful'.

In addition, it takes longer to earn enough income to support children.

I don't think all Americans are frivolous....

c'mon, parents, holla on this thread...are you struggling to make ends meet with two kids or more, or are you a spendthrift?

And how do you get both parents to work with one car if they work in two different directions out in the burbs?

And most of us are told you are SUPPOSED to buy a house.

Are there two parent families on this board with a single income?
How are you doing it?

"Silent" time? Come on Corn. Let's call a spade a spade here. Prayer is prayer, especially if there is a mandatory time set aside for it on a daily basis. Also, your original post didn't say "I'm for silent time in schools." It said, "I'm for PRAYER in schools."

Every day in grade school we had prayer/moment of silence and we all had to stand facing the flag (yep - one in every room) with hand on chest and say...

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Freak says:
I'm not saying you only have to have one car. The problem usually lies in both wanting new cars. That equals big ass debt! Why not buy two nice used cars for the price of one of the new cars?

And most of us are told you are SUPPOSED to buy a house.

Freak says:
I love hearing this! I argue with my Mom about this all the time. This is why my ex and I broke up, well one of the reasons.
My advisor preaches two things to me. Assetts and Liabilities! Until your assetts can pay for your liabilities, then a house or car on loan is a liability. The American Dream consists of buying eveything on loans and credit. This is from poor advice and just plain listening to the wrong people. My advice to everyone is this: Only take advice from people you want to be like! I laugh my ass off on this board with all the asinine advice given.
