Mattress shopping

I`m looking for a king size mattress. What`s the deal with these things?

They range from $500 to $2500 wtf? Is there really a difference? Does anyone know what to look for?

I`m hoping to get a <$1400 Mattress ONLY. Because I have a platform bed. I have a Queen size now and need the bigger bed. Can`t wait to stretch out. lol

I recently got the cheapest mattress available from Ikea. Not a king, but a double. Medium firmness.

In terms of comfort, its just as good as the super expensive single mattress that we used to have, and comparable to any of the more expensive ones we tried.

we just got a mattress. find a very good quality line that has been discontinued and if you need a boxspring, ask for one that has also been discontinued. it prolly won't match but will be way cheaper

I won`t be needing a box spring because I have a platform bed.

I actually spoke with 800mattress and they tried selling me a discontinued model King Koil for like $700 The new ones and the comparable ones are $1000+ maybe I should have went for that one.

I really think we don`t talk enough about mattresses on here.

i would help but i sleep on the shit of all shit things....cheapest mofo around and i jump on it when i see the mail man come

i think you could find a better deal than that on a discontinued mattress. you should try to save 50% off of original msrp

If you don't get the box spring they don't take much off the price. I won't go under a $1000 because the cheap ones will get pits in them very fast even with turning, flipping. I'm old though. I really can't get a good nights sleep on a crappy mattress anymore. Not sure if I ever did I think I just didn't know the difference between a good mattress and a cheap one.

I spent 2k on my queen now, it rox... I had a $800 sealy b4 this and there is a big difference.

Sealy beautyrest king size for $2000 got down to $1000.. they are always jacked up in price and can knock alot down.....Dateline had a thing years ago where they would jack up the price so high. Find one you like, then say you are going elsewhere to check the prices of others.. walk away and they'll start lowering the price to keep you there. They know once you leave, a sale is gone

I bought one of those "sleep number" beds.
A year later, I do get to sleep faster, but I can only recommend it with caveats.
Cons:
If I inflate it soft, I wake up in the morning feeling like it's sagging a bit in the middle.
If I inflate it more, it feels too hard.
Having sex on a bag of air gets wierd unless you inflate it more for firmness.
Since they have two inner air bags, there's a seam down the middle which has less support,
So a single person can't sleep single in the middle and spread out.
PRO:
I would recommend "sleep number" beds for a couple (because of middle seam), and only in a king size.
It fits your need for a mattress only,
they don't have a box spring, and are designed for platform beds.
I get to sleep the instant my head hits the pillow, I no longer toss and turn, and I stay asleep all night, (no more waking up several times in the night).

Pillow Top all the way...

We got ours at a clearance place brand new and like 2/3 the cost of retail..

The 3 options given were Firm, Plush, and Pillow Top. We were leaning towards the middle=Plush. If you sleep on your side or face down they say go with a softer surface.

I`m afraid of the Pillow tops, I have a fear of sinking in there and being very uncomfortable. I guess I have to go to the actual store and lay down on it.

You can get a Firm pillow top mat easy...
Its a firm mat with a 1.5 - 2 inch pillow top on each side.
Ours is pretty firm and yet the pillow makes it soo nice.

You don't sink into it too much at all really..

Go lay on a firm pillow top and see...
