Do you get a choice in the matter, as to when you get to leave for bootcamp?

Yes you do, and you get a choice of a job field as well, but not a specific job no matter what they tell you

If you need someone to get you ready for it... you know, kick your ass, boss you around and yell at you a lot, you just let me know. Anything I can do to help :)

god, oh god

DONT DO IT

that is a miserable life. you get treated like absolute shit. I fucking hated the Marine Corp. You will get stuck working with a bunch of stupid rednecks from texas and ghettoe wannabe gang bangers.

It sucks, join the Air Force

Like any life experience, you come away from the military with what you put into it.

If you go into the military thinking that it has little to offer you (except redniecks and ghettoe (sic) wannabe's, then you leave the marines with less than you started with.

On the other hand, if you go into the military, fully prepared for a highly structured, well disciplined lifestyle (it is *NOT* a job, it is a lifestyle) that requires you to not only work hard but also volunteer for C schools, then you will get the most out of it.

Bear in mind, most enlisted military members are the successful ones in their families and consider the meager pay to be a great deal of money.

The US military does have a lot to offer, you just have to be willing to accept all aspects of it.

I saw your pic and thought that was a usmc tat on your arm. That was the first time I saw a female with an armed forces tat and alot of my bros own tattoo shops. I think it's great.

Listen the Marine Corps has made all the difference in my life.

If you are a lazy piece of shit, who thinks you are better than everyone and you don’t have to listen, don’t go

If you are looking for some opportunity, some unique life experiences and a chance to see the world then the corps is a good option. If you are looking for a way to get a head in life it is definitely the way to go.

So what all did you get out of the marines career wise? Did you get stationed all over the globe? Did you have alot of fun? Did you use anabolic steroids while you were in the corps? I apologize for all the questions but I just want to make the right decision. Thanks in advance

If you go to Parris Island with a USMC tat on your arm they will treat you extra special.

So what all did you get out of the marines career wise? Ordnance 6541... don't pic that job, and don't go for firefighting either, because you will get ordnance. I work at Intel now though, and they were very impressed with my military background
Did you get stationed all over the globe? Good ol NC most of the time
Did you have alot of fun? Yes and no, it is all about taking advantage of where you are. I go stuck in NC, but had a great time going from NY to FL all the time. Plus going to Altantic beach every night was a plus.
Did you use anabolic steroids while you were in the corps? They will test your ass like it was fucking cool, I wouldn't do it. You pretty much get tested 20 times within the first year, and randomly after that.

Now is this a test for steroids? or recreational drugs? because andro is a legal substance, but can cause you to test positive for steroids by throwing your T/E ratio off whack. Everyone pretty much gives me a different answer when it comes to steroids in the military.
Another question...are you allowed to leave base after you finish up with work on base? Whats the military policy on that?

thanks in advance

I've never seen any testing for steroids in the military.

They are far more concerned about recreational drugs. And steroid testing is more costly than traditional recreational drug tests.

The guys in the marines who do juice & live on base, i wonder were theyd go to shoot up at if they were running a cycle of test?

Well, they could store and use it in their POV (personally owned vehicles).

Since inspections are primarily for contraband, they'd find it in their best interest to keep it out of the barracks.

They could easily store pills in asprin bottles and such though.

The test you recieve at MEPS and during basic training will be strictly for recreational drugs. The Marine Corps does test for AS, but only on a case by case standard. I.E. if they suspect you of it.

Are you allowed to leave base after work....thats all part of command discretion... What you have to realize in the military and esp in the Marines....this that liberty is a privilage, and not a right. And for the most part, todays Marine Corps doesnt give 2 shits about morale or troop welfare....

Before you do decide to ship.....ask yourself some very basic questions:
Can you handle someone else controlling every aspect of your life?

Are you prepared for the possibility that you may not recieve the job you requested? You sign up for an MOS code....that means you may get your job...or one you didnt want. They dont tell you what job you get until after you complete basic training and Marine Combat Training.

Do you think you can deal with the possibility of getting punished as a group because 1 other person screws up in your unit.

How would you feel If you got in trouble out in town...and have to suffer consequences from the local law, and also get punished AGAIN for the same offense by your command?

If you think it will be fun....it might...if your lucky and you get a good unit...or you could end up in a unit more oppresive than Singapore.

If you do decide to ship.....check and see if their is a bonus on your MOS....if their isnt then apply for the Marine Corp college fund
( an extra 50,000 for college)....work with your recruiters and try to refer 2 people to enlist or DEP so that you will have a stripe when you complete recruit training. This requires that you be in the Delayed Entry Program. And yes you can choose your ship date...dont let those recruiters lie to you. Think about shipping during a cold time of year so you can ve eligable for 2000 dollar cold weather bonus. Make sure everything they tell you is on paper. I.E. contract PFC, sign on bonuses, Marine Corps College fund. Make sure you make copies of everything. And remember you are not required to go ANYWHERE until they officially swear you in at MEPS...Delayed Entry Program doesnt mean shit....all the paperwork doesnt mean shit....nothing until you do final paperwork the day you ship off to basic training.

While I agree that the military is what you put into it...I do belive their are exeptions... That is why I am currently undergoing Administrative Separations. Best of luck to you and PM me or any questions you may have...I dont want you to make any mistakes about what you are doing. It happened to too many of my friends.

Well andro (legal substance) can cause you to test positive for testosterone by causeing your T/E ratio to be off whack. If they did test you for AS & tested positive couldnt you blame it on andro?

You tchnically could blame it on andro....but that goes through a lot of legal matters...just trying to prove you were on andro...then your higher ups will look at you with a high amount of predjudices because they will belive that you are just trying to cover up your ass and your life will be pure hell from that day forward. It is very political and quite frankly it is a kiss ass contest to see who the higher up wil like the most. cause if the higher ups like you. you wont get burned.

I'm pretty sure the UCMJ made andros illegal.

Actually.... it doesnt. there are no specific substances ( to the best of my knowledge) that are named by any article. But im not sure if the UCMJ has a law similar to the Federal Analouge Act....hell it may just fall under article 134. I know I disscuss pro-hormone usage with soem supierors

I used to help run the tests every Friday for a little over a year. They tested for AS and Andros, both could get your ass booted... but I did test for a school, not the regular active duty marines.

What type of school did you test for? Testing for steroids is very expensive, they tested everyone?

Air wing... you know, ordnance, avionics, cryo, etc. They will test most everyone for weed, E, coke, etc. (the basics) but will randomly test people for the random shit like steroids and presciption drugs. I know a few people that have gotten away with it, but I wouldn't chance it. Now, if I were to do it, (which I would not) I would wait until after you are full time active and out of all schooling then I would start right after they do a random test since they only do them like once a month and take stuff that can be quickly removed from your system. But again, it is not worth the chace to me, get caught and they will fuck up your life.
