i was just thinking about marijuana and society. it has made me wonder who certain people are. i don't really understand why some people hear weed, and they go off "omg! no! drugs are bad!". they don't really understand that marijuana is less than a danger to one's body than alcohol, or even cigarettes. please vote in the poll and post your thoughts.

the way i made this poll enables old people to vote too. less than once a year is almost never for a 20 or 30 year old. but over time it could add up to make a difference when you are say 60 years old. with options like this, it enable's wodin to vote and others who are really old. :D

I smoke it in spurts. When I have some I'll smoke it every couple of days untill it's gone. Then I might go a few weeks or a month without buying/using any.

Either way if I do it too much I start to feel dumb...

2-3x a year.

I'm gonna buy a fucking ounce and get high every goddamn day during summer tho.. :)

Couple a times a year. It's a nice diversion really.

it may be worse for your body but make you stupid--and from what I've seen, permanently!

okay, yes this IS a generalization, and admittedly is from my own experience, but the people I know that have smoked weed forever just aint right in the head!

Used to smoke it pretty regularly in high school. Sure, its not as bad as alcohol.. But slamming my head into a brick wall isn't as bad for me as shooting myself in the head with a shotgun, but that doesn't mean im going to do either.
Personally I don't find life so bad that I have to drink or smoke anything anymore so I don't.

i used to smoke everynight, but i recently moved to a new city and have cut back a great deal. been high twice in the past month.

I'm not voting cause I don't see a category that fits.
I used to smoke several times a day, every day, but quit and don't use it now at all.

Me 2

I smoked ed for 3 years. Then every once n awhile. Now I dont smoke at all, makes me think all kinds of crazy shit if my brain is not occupied.

ummm less than once a year... isn't that never?

No, it could go on infinitely. For instance, if you had smoked five times in the past ten years, it would be .5 times a year.:)

What about former pot heads that have cleaned up there act and not dont' smoke???? (or can't get access to a good source!)

I was a heavy user all through highschool I use to smoke out atleast 5 times a day. Now, I only smoke once maybe 3 times a week or I can stop if I want to. I think I went through some kinda of phase.

Never. What's the purpose?

To relax, reduce stress, etc. It cannibinoids can also increase hunger (which can be good or bad depending on your diet/genetics/etc.). It's great after a hard workout.

Mult. times daily - :havoc:

That's great to hear from a law enforcement officer. We need more relaxed guys like you that have good priorities.

I go in spirts too, when I cut back on drinking, I smoke more. Lately I have smoked every day. But since I have never paid for weed to smoke, I don't consider myself a pothead. It really is a nice way to relax at the end of the day. And it is better than alcohol cause I don't lose weight smokeing and I don't feel like shit in the gym for the next two days. The only drawback is i sleep a lot and miss class. Those of you that smoke a lot know about the effects of weed on sleep.

you're right. You can smoke an insane amount and no hangover. You start with a clean slate the next day. Your day isn't a waste. I hate alcohol.

usually i go straight to the gym after work. after that it's back home and shower, then time to toke. after a long day at work and a hard gym session, it's wonderful! :havoc:

that's pretty much what i'm doing right now.

summertime, and the livin's easy

Damn right. Nothing finer than chilling on the porch with a bottle of Corona and a nice fattie. :)

The weed dealers in my cirty are incredibly well organized too. I can fire off an email, and have a 1/8 oz delivered within a few hours. Like Dominos, only better. lol Don't even have to tip the driver. :D

Herb for me personally is used for spiritual purposes. peace
Would you please elaborate on this...I remember you saying you smoked for the "essential minerals" present in the weed or something like that.
And feeling spiritual-isn't that sort of what "high" means?

I do not smoke. Between the ages of 14 and 27 I stayed high everyday. Wake up smoke, break smoke, lunch smoke, smoke break, smoke smoke smoke. I sold weed to afford the habit in highschool and early twenties.

One myth I have read on this post. Marijuana does not make you "permanently" stupid. THC coats nuerons causing them to send messages slower to the brain. After diminished use this goes away.

Alcohol on the other hand Kills brain cells, point blank.

I am fully for the legalization of marijuana, although I don't know if I would smoke it if it was. I still see it being illegal pointless effort of congressional lobbyist as the partnership for a drug free america (Anheiser-Busch and Phillip Morris)? Also feeds lots of money into our legal system.

I'm one of the older ones here but I have never tried it. Just never had the need.

It´s not usually about need when it comes to trying. It´s just around and so you try it because your buddies are trying it.

If all of your friends were jumping in front of moving trucks or jumping off steep cliffs then you would try it......that's called following the herd (a weakness).

I don't have a problem with people who smoke it or who have tried it. No skin off of my back. I choose to not be around it.

does that mean you just smoke it so you can chill and say fuck everything else that don't really matter?
Fuck everything else?
I never take such a standpoint in anything, I always ponder the relevant, herb is not meant to be used to get "stoned", it is meant for focus, thinking, observing, appreciating and looking within, to evaluate the present, its used to move forward. peace

Whatever one does behind closed doors is their perogative. But, to state a generalization that marijuana use is safe, is wrong. For some individuals, the drug can be fad and in a couple of months it's over. To others, it can be dangerous. Just like alcohol. Some people can be "social" drinkers while others become addicted. Could there be a gene that predisposes people to addiction? My guess is yes.
A recent study suggests that marijuana use can increase the chance of getting schizophrenia by 6. Just one of many studies that are going on....as you tell people marijuana is safe. Be careful my friends.

Some good points, yet it all depends on the individual. These studies are funded by the govt. The govt. will post anything negative or signs of anything negative when it comes to herb, they have been doing it for decades now and intend to increase it as time goes on. peace

I have to disagree with you there. I don't like a marijuana high and I've drank more than my fair share of alcohol, but I think that statement is way off base.

I've smoked in the past (more than once). These days I find it completely useless. If people want to smoke it's fine with me. I have friends who smoke everyday. To each their own. Maybe you'll never suffer any negative consequences from use maybe you will. I decided it did nothing for me and the legalities of it closed the door on it for me. I'd rather take the risk of doing a cycle than buying and smoking weed. Lifter

Is that the same government that brought us the "hippy slaughtered his whole family due to hash" propaganda?
For me, government sources on drugs aren´t worth the paper they were printed on.

I knew that tired response was coming. No, I wouldn´t jump off the cliff because I could hear there screams of pain and their twisted, bloody and mangled corpses on the rocks below. You can only jump off the cliff once but can take two hits and be fine. Apples and oranges, friend. That´s called a lack of critical thinking skills. (something some might consider a weakness)

The choosing to be around it thing doesn´t always work either. you´re at a party with people and someone brings some or you are with friends of friends or something.

Just because everybody is doing it doesn't make it right. Call it a tired response if you will but the gist is the same. Different lifestyles warrant different opinions. Choosing friends who are more in line with my lifestyle makes it easier for me to not be around it.

I have been at social gatherings and been around acquaintances who have pulled out their "habits" and I have always left. That's how I choose to not be around it. It a personal preference for me but if you feel the need to do it, more power to you.

Right and wrong? Take it church. No offense but those words lead to a conversational dead end and I much prefer to keep the discussion going with you, HM.

You draw quite a black and white world. I don´t care for the "maria" myself but have friends that do and am not about to storm out of a social setting should one offend my sensibilities by brandishing some gear. Interesting how you assumed I used marijuana.

p.s. are you the guy that is semi retired at 40 or something? IF so, again, well done. take it easy.

I really can't believe you would have the patience to keep this conversation going since I'm such a black and white type of guy or maybe a "nerd" or a "square" is a better definition.

Maybe I do tend to look at things in black and white but like I have said in other discussions with you, I like to keep things simple. Sorry for being a "plain jane" "simpleton" type of person, but then again, I wouldn't want it any other way. I don't storm out, I just politely excuse myself. Color me wrong for assuming things.

I guess I was brainwashed at an early stage in my life to think that drugs were no good for me but I do thank my parents and others who I look up to for doing that. Maybe I should have tried all of these things so I could escape the day to day things called "life" as others have stated. I guess my biggest flaw is meeting problems head first and dealing with them.

I bet it is hard for you to believe that people like me actually exist....and yes....I am that guy and thanks.

You have to remember that Marijuana is considered to be the "gateway" to hard drugs. Personally, I don't approve of Marijuana being classified as a illegal drug but it does have its own disadvantages. Some people can't control their habits of using weed and therefore, move on to harder stuff. I know this is silly when Alcohol is legal. It has its own same disadvantages as weed. It can turn some people into alcoholics.

Remember, drinking is socially acceptable in our country. Weed isn't. When you think weed, what image do you get in your mind? Dumb and stoned kids. When you think drinking, you automatically think it's the norm. It's more of a psychological and sociological thing labeled with these substances.

I've only done it several times. I would do it more often if it wasn't for my running. Oxygen's my best friend! :)

But stuffing everything in life into two little slots (good and bad) distorts how complex and issue (or perosn or drug) can be. Also it isn´t always about escaping, although for some it certainly is.

I guess you can say that I am proud to be a Christian and hold my beliefs extremely high and dear to my heart. When I need strength and understanding to deal with life's day to day problems, I turn to my faith and beliefs in God. It's how I have chosen to lead my life. By choosing that way of life, I leave myself open to all sorts of descriptive names. Those names I listed were just some I have been called by people who feel like I threaten their own beliefs. I wasn't trying to insinuate that that is what you think of me so pardon me for the misunderstanding.

A basic hypothetical situation and question.....In all of your early life you had been taught that the color of the sky was blue. Then you get older and leave home to attend college or just move away to be on your own, you find out that other people say the color of the sky is red or green or purple or whatever color besides blue. Would you then start believing for yourself that maybe they are right and you are wrong or would you stand up for what you were taught and take issue with what they believe?

I don't think you need anybody such as myself telling you about life experiences because basically life is nothing but a series of trials and errors. I have experienced many of these and found what I like and dislike. Although I have never experienced recreational drug use, it's something I decided from the start that I didn't need in my life. As I have stated in previous discussions with you, I find things that work for me and stick with them. It's called my comfort zone. If that makes me a black and white type of person, then I guess I am just that type.

Well, I think I would realize that the word blue is merely a collectione of letters that represent a concept. What if I told you that it´s not blue at all, rather azul. Who is right? We´re getting into semantics here (like justice and liberty and so on) and trying to decide what these words mean is useless.

Comfort zone? After traveling on and off for the past 8 weeks I like it... a lot.

p.s. what color is the sky at sunset?

Well, now we are splitting hairs as to how many colors blue can be but the point I was trying to convey is that all of our beliefs (yours and mine) are so diverse that we differ on many things (except for the school uniform thing) as you have stated about semantics.:)

Comfort zone is something that means a lot to me also. It's how I tolerate the world.

The sky at sunset.....so many colors that they never seem to be the same every evening. When I was on my cruise, I can say, they were absolutely breathtaking. Light pinks, dark pinks, silvers, oranges, reds against puffy clouds with silver linings and the sun rays making a chinese fan appearance behind those clouds. Simply amazing! I might just liquidate everything and move there! LOL!
