Making Fina now... quick question..

Is it necessary to use the coffee filter, if I get everything processed within 1 hour?

On Mr. H's site, it says if you let it sit too long, you'll need to prefilter using the coffee filter. If I do it within the hour, I can skip that step, am I right?

Thanks.

if you are using A's kits it is not needed...all you have to do is desolve add oil, boil water, add fina, filter it and you are done...

CW is right. With A's kit, as long as you add the oil to the pellet/dissolving liquid combo within an hour of putting the pellets in the dissolving liquid, there shouldn't be oxidation. Thus, you can skip the coffee filter steps.

Thank you for the quick replies. I'm not using A's kit... but I am using what supposed to be an identical match. It has the exact same things as his does.

The pellets are currently dissolving... I have that vial in hot water... so after, I just add the oil... filter into the sterile vile... and WHALA! That's it?

Sounds about right!! just make sure to boil some water, take off heat put in fina and oil, heat for 7-10 mins, then filter into the vial and you have fina!

oh when you add the fina to the oil swirl it a little to mix it up! It took my pellets two hours to disolve and I did not use the filter steps and Iwas fine, so if they are the same as A's kits you are fine....

let us know how it turns out!!

So I don't even need to cook it? Just put it in the pre-boilded water for 7-10 minutes after I add the oil? Then just dispense into the sterile vial using the syringe filter?

Once you get the pellets disolved, add the oil and shake it up. Lit it sit overnight so it all settles and then begin the extraction and filtering process.

Mechanic... I thought that if you did it all in an hour, then it would work just as well. Is it really better to let it sit overnight? What difference does it make?
