Are you serious?

Downloading music is NOT illegal, only if copyrighted.

And file sharing software are to this day NOT illegal, until ruled by court.

Also, swapping radio show mixes is NOT illegal.

The government has a hard on for clubs through the rave act, might as well put a lock on this whole forum just in case.

And definietly lock all threads remotely connected to juice, because that is VERY illegal (if something can be more illegal than other things lol)

NO SHIT MAG, get off your fucking power trip bro, its a fucking discussion board, steroids are illegal too and we have a whole god damn board dedicated to them....what the fuck????? I use Kazaa personally

"Sharing" songs that are made by other people IS copyright violations... If I buy a Ja Rule CD and then copy it and give it to people, I'm violating his copyright.

It HAS been ruled by courts that this is a copyright violaition to share other people's copyrighted work... by "sharing" or "pirating" -- you are cutting into profits that the music companies should be making...

Now if you are going to argue that the movie/music companies have a monopoly on the industry.. that's one thing, but until the courts rule that way... suck it up. :)

Now, a discussion on WHICH music downloading program is the best... that might be worthy...

depends on what music your sharing, there are many unsigned bands that have their work on P2P software as their means of distribution....

either way, mearly talking about file sharing programs is not a crime in and of itself. in fact possession and use of such programs is not a crime, it is only a crime if you download a work that is copyrighted...and even then their are certain people (radio and TV stations) that have the appriate licenses with the RIAA/ASCAP/BMI which would allow them to dowload all day, and play the songs on the radio or tv and still be within the law...

Sure... if someone puts their music up for sharing no big deal... but Kazaa is in court now on a suit for copyright infringement, misappropriation, willful ...yatta yatta yatta... Kazaa is COUNTER suing however...

It is the process of Kazza that violates copyrights... not only in the music industry, but with computer programs and in the movie industry as well... just because there are some artists that don't mind it, doesn't justify the fact that many artists DO.

But that dosnt make using the program itself illegal. They may be getting sued because SOME of the stuff on there is copyrighted, BUT there is still public domain software. The point of my arguement was simply that my original question about file sharing programs was in no way illegal in and of iteself.
