But that dosnt make using the program itself illegal. They may be getting sued because SOME of the stuff on there is copyrighted, BUT there is still public domain software. The point of my arguement was simply that my original question about file sharing programs was in no way illegal in and of iteself.

No... file sharing software in and of itself is not illegal. It is only in violation of intellectual property laws when it shares content that is copyrighted and which is being shared without hte express written permission of the holder of the copyright.

If one song is downloaded, that is in violation... the Kazaa software should have to block that, or ANY OTHER copyrighted songs from being downloaded... hence, being left with the stuff that people don't care about.

and even with those artists there are certain people who could still download the songs and use them and be perfectly within the law...of course they have already paid LOADS of money to the labels to have all inclusive licenses to begin with...
