New member
hi...im wondering what the best thing is to do to lower ur heart rate during intense cardio? also are there any supplements u can take...thanks

im having alot of trouble controlling my breathing...like alot....im in shape to, i dont get it...any advice???? i really need help and would appreciate any input....ill def give karma for help...thanks

How fast is your heart rate going? How old are you? An incredibly high heart rate during exercise (i.e., routine exercise that a normal person would not go greater than 170 bpm) or a failure to return to below 100 bpm within 2 minutes of stopping exercise can be a sign of early cardiovascular disease. The shortness of breath concerns me. Yes, it's ok to get a little short of breath during exercise, but you should still be able to carry on a normal conversation.

my heart rate hits 180 when im killing myself doing cardio...drops back down to under 100 within 2 or 3 min.....my blood pressure and everything is good...just need heart rate lower

Last time the doc checked my heart rate he gave me a funny look, and asked me if I run. I told him I do marathons. He said that explains it, otherwise he would have been worried about me cuz it was so low.

nycdiesel - may be you are working out too intensely? I know when I take a boxing class, my heart rate can peak at 190 or when I am running hills in a race, I have actually hit 202. I don't stay there, but have gotten that high. I am a 32 yo female in above average athletic condition. Are you worried b/c you are not in shape? The only way I know of to lower your heart rate during exercise is to not work out as hard. What are you doing for cardio? If you are taking classes, try a machine, which for me is hard to be too intense b/c I am bored.

how low did ur heart rate go? i actually found a pill ym dr gave to me that actors take to reduce stage fright...i just dont want it to make my heart rate go too low.

thats not actually true...the rule is as long as your heart rate decreases by 30-40 beats in the first rest minute you are fine.

my normal resting heart rate is 58-62 and i get my heart rate above 200 during training and it only drops down to 120's in the first minute of rest, then it drops to 80''s the second or third minute...it will stay in the 80's for about an hour or so before it drops back down to my normal resting rate of 58-62.
