Low blood pressure

I have low blood volume and very low blood pressure. I've had it all my life. I have no idea what causes it, but I have to be careful.

What causes it....No, I am not looking for a diagnosis.(HT)
I am just curious.

It's caused by either low blood volume, decreased cardiac output or excessive vasodilation. There are many causes under each one of these catagories. If you can tell me which one you might think it could be, I could narrow it down a bit.

Blood pressure tends to be lower if less blood is being pumped into the arteries or if the arterioles are wider and more flexible and resisting the flow of blood less.

What was your blood pressure? It has to be low on at least three separate occasions spread out over time for you to be diagnosed as being hypotensive.

Ok I have extremely low blood pressure. I always have. Some times it makes me pass out.I get weak and dizzy easily. I dont know the cause, it is not that big of a problem for me. I was just wondering what the cause could be from.

Angel, I can relate. I used to have a paramedic for a bf and he would take it over and over again and would tell me that he would put me in one of those pressurized suits if he found me on a scene with BP that low. Everytime that I go to the doctor and they take BP they get a really weird look on their faces and take the BP 2 or 3 times. They tell me that I shouldn't even be conscious and ask if I feel tired lots. :worried:

I feel fine, though, 99.9% of the time. I am prone to fainting, though, and I can't donate blood or I'm guaranteed to faint.

Does being anemic or having low blood sugar have anything to do with those little red or blue cappillary (sp?) breaks on someone's legs. You know, those veiny looking things that look like small bruised veins.

highly trained atheletes generally have very low blood pressure

Varicose veins and spider veins? Those are largely hereditary (thanks mom...lol) and due to poor circulation.

ok.
1) I eat salad, and stop telling people the truth (I am fat).It is suposed to be a secret
2)No I have never had anything but the normal tests done
3)yes I am anemic, but plenty of people are anemic with reg BP
4) I have no idea about spider veins, I have none thank god.

What is your numbers? Mine is at 110/70, once it was 100/60 when I got it at Wal-Mart. I'm getting tested again today but of course by the time I give blood, I will already have taken two doses of energy pills and my 2 servings of Amp02 so I'm sure it'll be 120/30 over 80/90.

Supposdley runs on my dads side. My brother has high BP and Chol, I have very low BP and very low Cholesterol (I can't spell). Last time I had my Chol checked it was 102. Doctor threatened to drink my blood for it lol.

110/70 would be an improvement for me, lol. My doc would love seeing that!
I run extremely low, and constantly hear shit from my doc about it.

I have low bp, low resting heart rate, and very low cholesterol. Pretty much I am just a genetic freak since most of my family has high bp, hr, and Chl. I've never had any issues with fainting or any of that. I also have a super quick recovery rate from increased HR during exercise.

Cheers,

I'm the same way, minus my dad on issues with BP and such.

But I also have an extra muscle in my heart and it is half a size larger then average. Born with a severly crippled to no muscle at all on one part of my hear t to where they were going to do surgery. They couldn't put me to sleep and sometime later they noticed two muscles were growing. I thank this for a lot of reasons because I can out run healthy people on a basketball court that are 60 pounds lighter then me and run everyday.

Although I would trade my Genetic Lottery for the 200mill power ball.

Same here, my family all has high BP and cholesterol. Plus they all have diabetes...I have low BP, except I faint.

Have you had bloodwork done to see if you have a low nutrient levels? You may just have a dietary deficiency that's causing the fainting and the anemia.

No I have not. Although out of every thing I have been told this does sound most likely. I will have to run this by my doctor.
I know that I am anemic
I cannot retain calcium
I have never dieted and eat crappy junk food daily, and still do not weigh more than 100 lbs.
So that there goes to show that there is def some thing off key with my body.

Definitely get bloodwork done. Being anemic is often a sign of not enough Iron and amino intake. Inability to retain calcium us usually due to other vitamin/mineral deficiencies. Sounds like you have a fast metabolism but don't eat properly to support it. Some bloodwork and a trip to a good nutritionist should get you on the right track.

Try doubling up on your fluid consumption, most the time hyptension is caused from hypovolemia which results in decreased cariac output. Give it a try, it's a simple solution.
