Lost a friend this weekend

A friend died this weekend when another friend of mine hit a tree going over 100mph, ejecting them both, putting the driver in a coma and the other was pronounced DOA. The one driving I have known all my life. Him and his brother. He already had 3 DUIs' I believe. Fuckin dumbass. He was in a coma and has since come to. The other I have known for 13 years or so and he was a great guy. He was in the process of going through a divorce with his wife too, so I guess nothing was going well for him. I don't know all the details cause I just found this out about 2 hours ago. The guy who died(passenger) was a really good guy. Never heard one bad thing said about him. It really hasn't sunk in yet so I'm not sure how I feel. I just can't see why he(driver) would have been going 100 mph in a 30 zone on a windy road. I wonder was the one who dies telling him to slow down or was he encouraging him to "go faster"? I guess I'll never know :(

I have heard that since there was such a high speed that they will seek vehicular homicide instead of manslaughter. It happened like 3 blocks away from the house where I grew up. Him and his brother just bought a house too. Now he's gonna be rent free for the next 20 years. Serves him right. Fuckin pisses me off. The good one's dead while we pay for the other ones incarciration(sp) for the next 20 years.

Some of you may know about my DUI last summer. A lot of my friends have them as well. I learned not to drink and drive, but have since many times ridden with someone who shouldn't have been driving. It's usually just a couple blocks or miles to our destination, but it's like ya never think about the danger involved, just the legal consequences. Never again will I ride with someone drunk.

I really hope this opens alot of eyes for my group of friends and maybe some of you too.

I feel really bad for his family. I will miss him.

sorry to hear it hardrock:(

100mph?

I had a friend who used to drive like a race car driver. Superb driver but infuriating because he would not listen to requests to show down.

And a 16 year old will always go for a free ride in a hot car.

I am so sorry. I really hope it opens alot of eyes. My hubby's friend always seems to get impaireds and it drives me insane. My uncle was also killed by a drunk on his wedding rehersal. I almost went with him, but I think my guardian angel told me to just go with my parents.

Very sorry to hear that.

Only the good die young, that was a song. And I've seen it become true in real life.

Hardrock is right about never thinking of the consequences or maybe thinking it won't happen to yourself.

It definitely makes you think though, but the real test is following through.

There was a well-known guy who died similarly around my hometown, I think he was 19 years old. Going around 100 on a road meant for far less. I don't think there were any passengers.

I am unable to feel any remorse or pity, really, as we all must face the consequences of our actions. I had a good friend die 4 years ago from a similar accident, only he was one of four passengers. Half of the guys in the car died... supposedly they were passing someone on a highway when it happened. I suppose it's different when one is in control of other's lives, but when a driver dies from doing something blatently stupid, that's when I tend to shrug and say, "Well, that wasn't too bright, was it?"

:cow:

I am sorry for you... I know your pain a similar thing happened to one of my friends right when I guaduated...

question... why is the driver always the one who lives?

I am very sorry to hear about your friend. In the past couple weeks, 2 different people that I went to school with died. Life is too short to take chances.

Heard some more on the accident today form the deceased best firend.

Turns out the driver had no license and a 3rd party offered to drive them home and walk from there. They passed saying it was only 5 blocks from where he lived. Some guy heard screeching tires coming down the road and got outside in time to see the car going sideways and heard the 2 in the car screaming as they braced for impact. The car was ripped in half and both were thrown a good distance. The one died instantly from a crushed skull/face and the other went into ICU for the last 2 days. He is now home awaiting an investigation by the police. They are not even sure who was driving as the car was ripped into pieces with the seats tossed and all. The one suspected of driving is now blaming the one who offered to drive, saying he fled the scene after the crash. The police brought him in for questioning only to find he didn't have a mark on him and let him go. Pretty fucked up situation.

On top of it all my GFs' dad may not make it through the night as his cancer has about run its course. I feel so bad for her(jade 19)

Too much death. It took everything in me not to break into tears at work today. Don't know how to deal with all this.

Thank you all for your kind words.
