Losing the drive

Have you ever felt constanly fatigued? I mean my physical stamina and strength are fine but I feel fatigued mentally and it is bringing down my performance in the ring and gym. It might be the weather or I need a break. But I just don't feel the insane drive I use to have, to the point where I would lift weight out of sheer will without any regard to my physical limitations. Guess I am just ranting but it seems as if the world is always grey and my own presence is diminished somehow. Maybe I am just burnt out......

"and then on the 7th day GOD rested"

so what makes you any better. Look suston, i know how you feel but out of all the people i train and my own routine. i have planned rest days. i actually force myself to take days off when i feel fine. this way i dont get burnt out so often. plus, im so ancey the days i force my self to stay away from the gym that im rip ready and rarin to go with that insane intensity you speak of.

so my advice, dude relax. you will reap the benefits 10 fold.

Lord,
I had a really tough week too man! Really rough, shit, I had a rough last couple years. No matter wtf happens, stay in there, no matter how hard it seems. Only few know the road to becoming champions.

It's probaly just a phase, life is cyclic and your old self is just around the corner. I go through these also, it can be difficult to keep prespective sometimes. Things will change!!

Strider's right. We all go through this. LS (and I don't mean Louden this time :)) will be back in no time.

i feel ya bro...i was in quite a slump myself.....in more areas of my life than just training....

what can i say?...keep yah head up...it will pass

Those are classic symptoms of overtraining bro. Take a full week off. By about day 4 you will be chomping at the bit to lift anything. Wait the week out and when you go back, you will have some of the best workouts of your life.

Slumps suck bro, and we all go through them.

You could buy some aroma therapy candles, bathsalts, Kenny G CD, Enya and a rubber ducky, and brew a spot of herbal tea.

Or

I could present you with a formal challenge if that would help get your ass moving;)

I'm serious about the second one by the way:)

hmm

I have something similar, I am constantly feeling like crap.. though for me lifting is the only thing that makes me feel any better.. it helps me take my mind off how much I think life sucks.. and the general rush I get from it is good.. makes me feel great for a while after even.. but then I feel terrible again.. I've felt like such shit since things between me and my girlfriend have become bad.. and it's getting worse... sometimes I wonder why I bother living

See a psychiatrist immediately. There's no reason to feel terrible when you can feel better. Depending on how long this has gone on, you may have a mood disorder (EG, acute or chronic depression, bipolar disorder, etc).

Funny thing about being a psych major (no insult intended) is that it is easy to see that almost all people could fit into some categories for diagnosis.

Believe me, none taken. It's impossible to go about my day and not make snap diagnoses of ...well...everybody. Not to diminish what variation is feeling. Lack of interest in things that used to bring one pleasure is a big symptom of depression.

I have been going through the same thing lately. Each day, it's harder to get out to the gym. Once I'm there, after abit, I feel pretty good. But, it just seems harder and harder to get motivated.
Even hitting PR's and seeing changes in my body doesn't seem to help much. Just feel tired all the time.....but if I skip working out, I feel worse....

Just another rant......

Yup, you're a little burnt out.

Definently take a week off, and you'll be *more* than ready to get back to the weights after you do.

I feel like this sometimes. I go to the gym thinking....I'm not really into this today, maybe I will just hit the back then get out of here. So I hit the back and hit it hard, and as I am hitting it i'm thinking maybe I will go ahead and work the abs, I will feel better if I hit the abs. Then as I am doing it, i'm thinking :45 min of cardio and I can enjoy the rest of the day, feel pretty good about myself. For me, getting my ass in there is the battle, once I am there it clicks for me... But every 2 months of training I take 5-7 days off for rest and I usually come back harder and stronger.
