young lady on her overseas holidays. The salary package is
$200,000 a year.".

The Puerto Rican said, "Ah c'mon man, you're kidding me!"

Then you DON'T agree with me completly. I see nothing wrong with redneck, hillbilly, cracker, spic, "n-ger" (ooh watch out... I'll get banned even if I say that one in quotes), gook, raghead, etc... They are just words. What is a cracker? A white guy. What is a spic? A hispanic guy? What is a "n-ger?" A black guy. Why are people offended for what they are? Y_Lifter, it does no good. That's not the point. The point is that the use of those words and any of any other words of one's choosing is a FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN RIGHT that is guaranteed by the Constitution.

Call me a ragheaded spic camel jockey or whatever the fuck you want. I don't like the expression, I don't like the person saying it, but he has every right to.

in my opinion...

using the "racist" nomenclature is not a good thing, but restricting its use is a banal solution. The problem is that restricting language does not restrict thought. These ideas still exist, whether or not we are freely allowed to talk about them. All that putting up a gag order does is force the racists to be more covert. Instead of saying nigg3r, they veil their hate in questions like "why are all Grambling graduates so illiterate?" One is no less hateful than the other.

In fact, I think by restricting speech, we make it more difficult to delineate the hate and eliminate it. All good debaters know that one of the first steps in defeating an argument is to identify it. After that, you look for a weakness and attack. By forcing the racism into the shadows, we are making it more difficult to see and more difficult to fight...
