Dobes are great dogs, but make sure you get them from a reputable breeder because many of them have a dominant behavior that is tough to get a handle on. Get two dobes and name them Zeus & Apollo like Higgins on Magnum PI.

Well, all I need is another then because this ones name is Apollo..LOL

Yeah, got him from a really good breeder. Paid a pretty penny for him ($1000), but you get what you pay for. He's from German lines, not American. The German lines are more "working dogs". He's extremely friendly, not dominant at all...kinda wish he was a little more dominant. Pretty shy, although he's a great watch dog so far, always on patrol.

Have you owned these dogs? You obviously have read zero books about the various breeds. Of course there will be exceptions, especially with all the cross breeds.

Yes, and a German Shephers and my Sister had a Huskie
all purebreeds, and I read lots of books

Every Lab or Golden I have ever known was a licking tailwagging loveable dog even to most strangers after the first loud Woof!

I have been awakened by this howling when passed out after several parties at her house.

And Yes, Even Labs bite people.

Sounds like a great dog. I plan on get another someday. I had one a few years back named Thor. He was a great watchdog, but was definitely a dominant male.
