I swear i hear rats diggin in my apartment attic right now

Sat morning I was fast asleep and in a dream and I heard this weird squeaking in my dream. I didn't think much of it and was trying to just sleep, but my girlfriend which absolutely FREAKS over mice nearly knocks me out of bed and says "did you HEAR THAT?!" as if we had a tiger in the kitchen or something.
so I mumbled and then she pushed me again, and I started swearing and turned on the light (4am -yay).
Sure enough, there was a mouse sitting outsite our door. just sitting there. I just stomped on the floor, thinking he would run under the fridge and I could go back to sleep.
but no - he just sat there.
so I figured he was dead.
so I took a shoe and bumped him a little and he just sort of turned and looked at the shoe like "whoa, hey there, no need to get pushy"
so I grabbed an Amazone box that I had lying around and sort of knocked him into that and then threw out the box.
I feel really badly about basically burying him alive - but there was something wrong with him anyway.
at least I got to go back to sleep. although my gf was freaking out at any little sound.
since we moved in here in july or so, we've killed 8 mice in traps and that 1 that just apparently decided to turn himself in.
I got 10 more traps yesterday and set 3 more.
I feel bad about it, but if it means that I can sleep the whole night without my gf freaking out, then fine.
