Log - Clean & Press

Hi guys,

Got a question about the log lift for some of you experienced strongmen.

I can clean & press 90kg for 2-3 reps with a bar. I tried a 90kg log today could not even manage 1 rep with it. I did however easily manage to lift it to my shoulders, but could not press it. The position is just too awkward, the hand position is to wide and the log too big.

Anyone have any tips on how to press this damn thing. I should be getting at least 1 rep out of it.
 
Lower the weight at first and learn the technique of pressing a log. I know this sounds F'd up but pressing a log take much more back strength to hold the bar way in front of you, plus your tris must be use more at lockout. Basically you explode up and lift the bar up and backward so it ends up directly above your head, while doing this you need to move your head through your arms. I think learning to press a log takes more volume at first cause the fel is totally different. Hopefully this help
