Liver Issue after Routine Doc Visit

Hey Fella's,
I went to the doc to get some allergy medication & they took some blood. A week later, I get a card from the doctors office saying "there are some changes in your liver function, may be due to alcohol or drug. Stop alcohol for one month & re-check in clinic". W'ell it's not the booze, I'm assuming it's the 5 months of var @ 50mg.
I haven't requested the actual values, but do you think they are seriously out of whack & I may be in danger OR since they want me to come back in a month(rather than immediately), they pobably are just a little high??

Don't like this f'ing letter. I'e been off for 4 weeks and was planning a test based cycle lol

I would talk to them and ask the values are. May be a little elevated otherwise you would think they would want you to come in asap.

That's what I was thinking. I'll have them fax the values to me.

Anyone else....

If your not already on it i would start taking tylers. Obv i have no clue what your values are like but without a doctor knowing that you just took 5 weeks of an oral steroid and your liver values are out of whack offcoarse he would sound worried or suprised, Now if he knew you just finished a 5 week cycle of var im sure he wouldnt be suprised at all.

I never received a letter like this from Test. I'm assuming var is harsher on the Liver than test is. At least for me...

I suppose I shouldn't start a test cycle until me liver values are back to normal?

If they were URGENT he wouldnt simply suggest laying off the alcohol and coming back in a month.. give the orals a break, take your liver health supps and go back in a month as suggested.. lay off the AAS for now

Generally all orals are harsh on the liver due to the fact that they are 17aa.... they do a double pass through the liver. Injects generally dont mess with the liver.

I dont think you should be worried whilr you are "on". I would worry if after you are off there is a problem. I also take tylers eceryday just to be safe.

Was off for three weeks when the bloodwork was done.

Anavar does not stress your liver. It is designed not to stress the liver.
Your doctor is probably reading your AST/ALT liver values without checking your GGT value. He is not taking into account that you lift weights. If you lift weights your muscles will produce the same enzymes and your doctor's test can't tell them apart. GGT however is only from organs so if THAT is elevated as well then you gots a problem.

whoaaa, so anavar isnt liver toxic?

I seriously hope thats true becuase im a retard and got stupid drunk(it was my birthday) and then a week later i did the same thing on my GF's birthday. While on var.

What do you suggest I do---my head is spinning from your reply. I feel stupid lol

Just talked with my nurse & my ALT is 41 & AST is 82. They are going to mail the complete results..

It's not their fault really, it's common. Doctor's don't take into account that you weight train and probably did before they took your blood. It happens all the time.

Anabolic steroid-induced hepatotoxicity: is it overstated?

Dickerman RD, Pertusi RM, Zachariah NY, Dufour DR, McConathy WJ.

The Department of Biomedical Science, University of North Texas Health Science Center, Fort Worth 76107-2699, USA.

OBJECTIVE: There have been numerous reports of hepatic dysfunction secondary to anabolic steroid use based on elevated levels of serum aminotransferases. This study was conducted to distinguish between serum aminotransaminase elevations secondary to intense resistance training and anabolic steroid-induced hepatotoxicity in elite bodybuilders. DESIGN: This was a case-control study of serum chemistry profiles from bodybuilders using and not using anabolic steroids with comparisons to a cohort of medical students and patients with hepatitis. PARTICIPANTS: The participants were bodybuilders taking self-directed regimens of anabolic steroids (n = 15) and bodybuilders not taking steroids (n = 10). Blood chemistry profiles from patients with viral hepatitis (n = 49) and exercising and nonexercising medical students (592) were used as controls. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The focus in blood chemistry profiles was aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase (GGT), and creatine kinase (CK) levels. RESULTS: In both groups of bodybuilders, CK, AST, and ALT were elevated, whereas GGT remained in the normal range. In contrast, patients with hepatitis had elevations of all three enzymes: ALT, AST, and GGT. Creatine kinase (CK) was elevated in all exercising groups. Patients with hepatitis were the only group in which a correlation was found between aminotransferases and GGT. CONCLUSION: Prior reports of anabolic steroid-induced hepatotoxicity based on elevated aminotransferase levels may have been overstated, because no exercising subjects, including steroid users, demonstrated hepatic dysfunction based on GGT levels. Such reports may have misled the medical community to emphasize steroid-induced hepatotoxicity when interpreting elevated aminotransferase levels and disregard muscle damage. For these reasons, when evaluating hepatic function in cases of anabolic steroid therapy or abuse, CK and GGT levels should be considered in addition to ALT and AST levels as essential elements of the assessment.

Ulter - Is this true at 80-100mg ED?

I was drunk for 20 years,

when I got sober, my liver was in the twilight zone,

It doesn’t repair itself, supposedly,

Damage is supposedly permanent

But now it is almost normal, go figure,
