Liver Enzyme Numbers

cubuff27

New member
So I had my latest bloodwork done and the only thing the doc brought up is that my liver enzyme numbers are a bit high (57), she said the high point is 50. Now I am about to launch into some serious research as to what is "truly" high for me, but wanted to know if anyone has info off the top of their heads? You can see my stats and current cycle in my signiture file. More info being is that I have currently been "on" for about 7 months now. When I run orals, they are no more than 5 week cycles and then a 5 week break or more. Currently running T-Bol now.

I am guessing off the top of my head that between the TBol and the 300g of protein I eat a day that is why the number is high?

Thanks guys.

If you are "on" and got those results that doesn't seem that bad to me.
My values were high and I have not touched anything for a long time!

You don't say which specific test you got. There are two types of “liver enzymes": the alanine aminotransferase (ALT); and aspartate aminotransferase (AST), formerly referred to as the SGPT and the SGOT. These are enzymes that indicate liver cell damage. The other frequently used liver enzymes are the alkaline phosphatase (alk. phos.) and the gammaglutamyltranspeptidase (GGT) that indicate obstruction to the biliary system. Normal AST and ALT are 5-45 U/L so I'm betting this is what test you are talking about. Elevations here are caused by:
A Autoimmune hepatitis
B Hepatitis
C Drugs or toxins
D Ethanol/fatty liver
E Growths (i.e., tumors)
F Hemodynamic disorder (congestive heart failure)
G Muscle injury

You would fall into category C if you are on AAS. You are not too bad, actually, though you definitely need to follow up every 6 months or so. Drop the orals if you are really concerned, and stick to injectables which aren't so harsh on the liver (except Winny). I wouldn't waste my money on those liver detoxifiers (though I know some people swear by them). If you don't have any other symptom, you're probably fine.

Yes...you are correct todoveritas it is the AST and ALT ones. In fact she ordered more tests for Hepatitus and stuff, but I said that I didn't really think it was necessary because I don't have hepatitus, but ingest large amounts of protein...I "forgot" to mention the oral t-bol I was taking, but same result applies.

Thanks guys....K to all of you!

Yeah, Mine are always in the 80's... When I don't lift for a week they are in the 30's.

That's what I was going to say. I agree. Make sure your doc knows that you train several times a week.

As Ulter said, your values are pretty low. Try to schedule your blood tests after several days of layoff is possible. Also, GPT and GOT are quite meanningless (unless they skyrocket) for someone who trains. Check your Bilirubin and LDH, and particularely GGT. These are more accurate indicators of liver damage.
