live longer, or be happier?

Lets just say for some bizarre reason you had to choose... On one hand, you could be happy, and basically risk dying at any point. On the other hand, you could prolong your life to the average age expectancy and be depressed a lot.

I know, most people (myself included) would choose to be happy, because basically, what is life without happiness. BUT... you could pretty much never be in a relationship ever. I mean, it would be wrong to start something up when you know you could die at any point and leave them alone with any possible kids of yours... I know this is kind of a weird situation, but I am just wondering who would do what...

Be happier by far. I don't want to see 90. Why would I??? Gasoline will probably be around $5 a gallon. THe air will be shitty. The would will still be overcrowded.

I would rather be happier.

As far as not knowing when you are going to die, that's the way it is now. You never know if today is the last day you have on earth, so you better enjoy the life you have.:)

depends on the situation

if god came down and said 'danielson, this is how its gonna be. pick and choose?', i would choose happiness as its better to live 1 day as a tiger than a 1000 as a sheep

but

you just said you would never be abe to settle down/commit.....would you be happy? truly

also, why would youj be depressed. if god said you were gonna be, the you cant do much about it

if it was a medical problem (HIV) and you;d be depressed as the meds made you feel ill, then I WOULD TAKE THE MEDS, AND RESOLVE MY DEPRESSION down the line

I'd rather die tomorrow with all of my life's desires fulfilled than live a dozen lifetimes in suffering.

I was just discussing this very thing a couple days ago while I was defending steroid use. The other person told me "you're going to take years off your life using that stuff." My honest response was "Bodybuilding is very important to me for many reasons. Using steroids has allowed me to acheive an otherwise unreachable level of bodybuilding that truly makes me happy every day. Being small and weak would put me in a very depressed state. This being the case, I would rather be happy, proud, and die at 45 than sad and dissapointed in myself until I was 90."

Be happy. If I lived a long time with depression I wouldn't have any incentive to live. Rather die with my goals fullfilled, then live in misery.
