HRT keeps me young!
EF VIP
Last September I made contact with my 16 year old daughter. Over the last 6 months we have developed a very decent relationship. Lots of ups and downs, but we hang in.

Family gave me fits ... lots of jealousy. Again, I made my position clear and moved forward. I double checked with high quality outsiders like my Dr to keep my perspective clear.

Yesterday was the birthday of the Mother of my adult children. I gave a little party and invited every one. All showed up but one son. And I could tell that he was filled with regret later. I hope he gets onboard soon.

All I can say is ..... family members can be very slow to accept someone new. Outsiders may accept them at the very first meeting. If it happens to you, expect the worst and the best ... keep the door open to them no matter what ... and keep telling the new person how much she is loved by you.

Being a Dad is a terrific role, but it is hard to do.

You sound like an awesome dad. Good for you. I hope the rest of your family comes around.

yay for you and your daughter.

My dad met a sister he never knew he had when he and his other sisters were all at least 55. My dad accepted her right away, but the sisters did not like the idea of it. They came around, eventually, though.

I had some confess that it was ... jealousy  that drove them away ... and unselfishness and compassion that drove acceptance  .

Great job man. You DO sound like an awesome dad! Best of luck to you, and if you need some advice - just ask!
