Liposuction advice?

Would anyone here toy with the idea of getting liposuction? I seem to store my fat mostly on my stomach. I've had six packs before but everyone commented on how awful I looked. People reckoned I had cancer. Basically in order to get the fat down on my tummy, the rest of me, esp. my face looks anorexic.

I am going in for routine exploratory surgery. The surgeon doing it is a cosmetic surgeon, although the surgery I am having is not cosmetic. The main operation itself is quick, but since I have to go through the hospital stay and have the general anaesthic, I figured I may as well have them suction a few of those surplus fat cells off my abs while I am under.

What do you think?

I say go for it while you're there. If you're very overweight I'd diet down firts so your skin is tighter after they suck the fat out. Otherwise you'll have pancakes around your waist for a while

I'm not overwieght, so this shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the advice. I am surprised that I have only had one response on this thread.

I am not a big fan of lipo. I would recommend it only to those who are seriously overweight. I am a massage therapist and several of my clients have had lipo, and I can tell right away because the skin gets very leathery, tough in an unpleasant way.

Have you tried Clen or Yohimburn DF...these really seem to get me good and tight. However, sometimes the Clen can make you lose fat in your face, which is what you protecting against...In that case I would go with YohimburnDF. Its only $60, so I guess its worth a shot.

Lipo is a god send. I too had to get too skinny for my abs to show properly. Went down to 188 one summer and I am 6'4".

Looked like crap, no muscle.

Now I am 235 and just got out of my second bout of chest, stomach, and flank lipo for genetic and progresteron (Deca) related fat.

Couldn't be happier. They took around around 500 cc's from both pecs and a liter from my stomach. It was all watery fat that just settled from years of supplements and er... beer.

The six pack is back on my 235 pund frame almost overnight and I haven't been training for 3 months. Highly recommended.

I think your plans sound fine.

Just find the right guy to do the work and ask about post-op care - ultrasound treatements are very helpful, a couple treatements/wk for 4-6 wks. I have not had any problems with leathery skin and I got my work done at the age of 41.

Also ask about the size of suction scapula or whatever and their experience with men, and in the flank area. The obliques are very challenging - track marks can be left if they are too aggressive or in a rush. This is the issue I have on the left side. I had a good outcome but not perfect like they promised - these guys have big egos.

There is a new procedure coming around to the USA that has been available in other parts of the world for some time - it is called mesotherapy. This involves weekly injections in the fatty areas that will break down the fat over a period of 1-2 months. The association of plastic surgeans is aware of it and is in the process of reviewing it - they are not in any hurry to go this route as it is not as lucrative as lipo. These things can be very political. Look for other types of practitioners to pick it up first. I think it is available in NYC, Chicago, and probably on the West Coast. The before / after pics I have seen were very impressive, perhaps not quite as good as a perfect lipo, but perfect lipos are rare and surgery always carries risks. Meso therapy appears very safe and the risk of disfigurement seems minimal compared to lipo. The AAPA or whatever would tell you differently, though.

How much does this usually run...

Also what I was wondering. Personally I wouldn't do it, but I have no reason to say you shouldn't. But I think you experiment a little more with different fat loss methods to see if you can get that stubborn stuff.

As strange as this may sound, genetics have it that I store lots of fat on my calves,,,, its quite weird. But maybe if I get my bf% around 7-8 (its at 11 right now), it will all go away, so I'm not too concerened.
