Lifting Program for 15 yr old

Need some help people. Here's the situation.....a friend of ours has a 15 yr old son (10th grader) who is on the school baseball team. He 's 6'3 & weighs somewhere around 200 lbs. Pretty tall & lanky basically. He wants to do some kind of lifting to help improve his strength but has never fooled around with the weights before. She was asking if I could help put something together to help him out. Here's what I was thinking....

Start off with the basics....bench, squats, curls, shoulder presses & lat pull downs. 3-4 sets per exercise

Lift 3-4 days per week.

Not quite sure how to or if I even need to factor in calories/day for a 15 yr old teenager. Any suggestions anybody?? I appreciate any replies & help with figuring this out.

Thanks - DB

yea..ur on the rite track with the core exercises..

start with his reps up high till he gets his form down..

6-3 throw in some plyos get that kid dunkin..if hes not already..

If hes tall and lanky 5-6 high carb high protein moderate fat meals a day...especially if hes playin ball..hes gonna burn that off like crazy.

Thanks rgosit! I think that was a great comment you made on "getting his form down"....I almost forgot about that. I think so many of us here have been doing this for so long that we sometimes take "form" for granted. DB

no problem..

ive seen high scool kids thowing weights around and bouncing them off there chest..such bad form it looks like one of the discs in there back is gonna snap and shoot across the weight room
