Will eating high gi before your workout lessen the insulin spike that you get when eating high gi after your workout or does it not matter?

Or am I better off eating something low gi or like a banana and peanut butter right before the gym and then after having my pwo shake?

I would take low GI foods 2 hours before your workout (not right before)

If this helps, I've been getting good results by drinking some mid-high gi juice along with a little whey about 20-30 mins before working out in addition to sucking down a pw shake w/dextrose and maltodextrin. I've read that it helps prevent catabolism while working out and gives your muscles fuel for an intense workout. I obviously just wouldnt eat/drink too much (to avoid feeling queasy/vomiting)

I felt good today on, 1 carton of egg beaters straight up, 1 banana, and two spoons of all nutty peanut butter.

After the workout i had my usual dextrose and whey shake
