I have recently done a liver function test and my results are below. This was not done in North America, so I am not sure if the normal ranges are the same. Results are below.

Total Bilirubin: 9.8 umol/l Ref Range: 0-17

Direct Bilirubin: 1.7umol/l Ref Range: 0-4.3

Total Proteins: 77g/l Ref Range: 60-80

Albumin: 48g/l Ref Range: 35-50

Albumin/Globulin- Ratio: 1.7 Ref Range ( looks like either more than 4.0 or more than 1.0)

AST: 22 U/L Ref Range: 0-37

ALT: 40 U/L Ref Range: 1-42

GGT: 28 U/L Ref Range: 1-49

Alkaline Phosphatase: 164 U/L Ref Range 98-279

Form the results it looks like everything is in range. My question is, I have been looking online and the normal range for Alk Phosphatase is between 20-147 ( not sure on the units)

Are the units of measurement different in each country?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Please anyone? Steve, would love to hear your input. Do these look normal for North American ranges, from your experience?

Ya these are the ranges my lab has given me. I literally copied them from my hard copy. I was a little worried about the ALP results, but then looking again online apparently 98-279 is the normal range. Other numerous health sites have 20-147 range, so that is what confused me. Might sound like a stupid question but units and international units aere the same thing? Right?

It's all good, bro. Go with whatever the lab reference is. Values can fluctuate lab to lab but the testing lab knows how they ran your particular sample.

Thanks for the replies and reassurance. I received an email from my Dermatologist ( after I wrote her) assuring me that all my results were in the normal range. This all started with my alopecia problem. The Derma, ordered a Thyroid Function, Blood Count and Liver Function Test ( in case of Autoimmune Hepatitis, which Alopecia is a symptom). Only the ALP got me worried. Just wanted to hear everyones experiences on here. So cheers.
