Lexapro- Anyone taken it?

Gf got prescribed it for anxiety. I personally hate SSRI's as they fuck with your head, libido, and sleep, not to mention they make you crazy when you try to come off.

Anyone with personal experience that can tell me the pluses and negatives of this drug?

dakotah is on it. at first she had a hard time reaching orgasm on it, but that seems to of subsided. it seems to still mildly effect her sleep. she's tired alot but tosses and turns

i have taken it celexa, lexapro, stay away stay away!!!!

since i have been off i am not so "foggy", plus kills I repeat KILLS YOUR SEX DRIVE.

dude, go to some med forums, read the horror stories.

Believe me I know the horror stories all to well. I was on paxil for 6 years. Ruined my sex life among other things. Thats why I am hesitant to her getting on something similar. Thing is, the doc won't give her anything but that type of drug. Says others are too addictive.

I was on Lexapro and then went ton Wellbutrin. Neither did me any good. Lexapro killed my sex drive, made me tired, and gain weight. (Not good weight.) Wellbutrin didn't do so much sexually, but I felt the same, just numb. I hope she can get through it bro. It's hard feeling like that.

i have been on it for a while and at first it made me nauseaous and sleepy
then after i started adjusting i ended up having troubles sleeping like i would sleep but toss like dev. said and then i would wake several times anight
so i got put on some sleeping pills and they knock me out so im sleepy all day

the whole having a sex drive is out the window unless i force myself to concentrate really hard. which sucks because people should be relaxed not concentrating and focusing like its a job

I agree. Thats what I take now, but only when my anxiety level is elevated. GF's doc said it was too addictive. I agree it can be, but thats why you only prescribe enough to be used sparingly, not abused. I remember when I was first prescribed. I was given 30-2mg bars a month(60 mg). I would hand them out like party favors at partys. Used them just about everyday too. Now my doc gives me 45-.25 mg pills a month for a grand total of 11.25 mgs. I need to take 2-4 of those little bastards just to calm me down.

exactly, xanax can be taken eod or even every 3 days and still have a desired effect. the part about GF's doc saying it is too addictive is bullshit to me, were talking about a problem that requires maintenance drugs. whether its addictive or not you will still need it and take it. its only addictive if you abuse it and try to come off too quickly.

IMO she needs to go to a different doc that is a little more open minded. maybe your doc.
