Cause I don't have anything fucking better to do.

He's worked a lot of suicides and told me about some of them in detail. He was on his way home from his beat one day, when a passenger flagged him down to tell him that some lady had apparently just shot herself and her car was on the side of the road... He gets there to find the woman slumped over still holding the gun. She has no pulse and he sees the bullet hole in her head and the blood running down her face. The bullet went completely thru her head and lodged in the side of the car.... The reason she did this.... She had just got news that the cancer she had been battling that was in remission had come back with a vengeance... She didn't have the courage to face more suffering (probably certain horrible death). My boss added that she was a wealthy lady.... Here's the argument: He thinks that suicide under any circumstances is a selfish act because the family survivors will blame themselves even under circumstance such as what this lady was dealing with.

I say fucking bullshit, an intelligent person does not want to go thru that kind of suffering and if their family has half a brain they will understand and it's the family that is selfish for not understanding such an act. Just leave a note telling them why. I've seen firsthand what cancer can do to someone. It is horrific.

Only really if you have children or others who are dependent upon you for their welfare. But there again, it's not like someone who shoots themselves in the head while driving their car is exactly thinking with a clear mind. At that point in time, they are thinking of only one thing - no longer being alive.

Of course it is a selfish act. That doesn't make it inherently bad or good. But she was acting in her own perceived self interest.
