legs and back - heavy

TheOak84

Well-known member
the 2 guys i work out with do legs and bak on tue. i dont wanna do this because its not right, not the 2 biggest muscles in one day. so for the past 10 weeks i havent, but i want them to train the same muscles on the same day as me. so i said lets do this:

mon - chest, tri (light)
tue - back, bi (light)
wed - delts
thrus - legs
fri - tri's, bi's (heavy)

they said theyd think about it, but i need some reasons to tell them why its bad, they arnt very open minded.. they are strong as an ox though. but still. i want them to train right. anyone have a good way to convince them?

Arms should not be trained twice a week like that.

If you stick with that type of training you will have 16 inch arms for a while.

Why not pound them to the extreme in one session?? Devote 100 percent intensity in one session then let them rest.

If you need to train them twice a week, you are not doing the job during the first training session.

Agreed, also going to the gym 5 days in a row without rest is training suicide.

There's the answer. One body part a day and stay fundamental. Sometimes being simple is the easiest way to grow.

yes i know, my question was, what is a good thing to cinvince them that this way is bad.. so, just tell them they wont get bigger?

Here is a better split routine:

Day 1 - OFF
Day 2 - Delts and Biceps
Day 3 - Legs and abs
Day 4 - OFF
Day 5 - Chest and Triceps
Day 6 - Back
Day 7 - OFF

You should always train legs and back alone. This split provides plenty of rest, plus provides separation between significant muscle groups.

This is a split I followed for years before I started DC training.

As for your current routine, training arms twice a week is a mistake!! Learn how to devote 100 percent intensity during one training session.

Well basically I was telling you that your current devised routine is no good. . .too many training days. If you are currently at dollar sixty five, with 16 inch arms, I can't see how this routine is working. This is my opinion. Training more is not better. Like I said, you need to learn how to focus on 100 percent intensity on your workouts instead peforming a single with only 315lbs or constantly trying to max out on the bench to show off to your buddies. If you learn the mind to muscle connection and learn how to take a set beyond absolute failure. . . .there is no need to perform additional training days. . . .this is a waist of time. If you say you can't gain any muscle using less training days. . .your diet sucks!! Remember eating is part of the game.

u are taking this WAY off topic. i dont show off to anyone.. and i dont preform jsut singles, im not gonna post ever PR i hit. cuz i dont think its that important to you. also, if you read my posts correctly, i said i hit 315 with those shitty iron grip weights,
im workin on it for 3 with NORMAL weights. and i have a good deit, i eat enough carbs and protien and fats and get 8-10 hrs of sleep.. im in good shape.. AND i have gained 3 pounds since i started deadlifting. now i weigh 168, almost 169. and i hit 385 like garbage on deadlift. im goin for the 4 plates. cant wait till i hit 495. which shoule be before im 20. another goal i have is to hit 365 on benchpress by june. and i WILL do that. with the same routine im using now. now that my hip is 90% recovered, i will be back to my squatting, and gain even more weight..

I read your post, but I was offering free advice. Anything wrong with this? That is what this forum is all about.

If you think it is good and you know that a certain thing is wrong, do what you can to change it and take steps to prevent it. Yes, explain to them the benefits and outline the negatives of their training. Then implement the training you are about to embark on and why they should join you.

my best advice is to ask them to try it one week with you and see if they like the results. If they don't then there is nothing you can do. I expect if they really want to get strong they will try it at least once.

nothin at all... its just, im makin gains and ur tellin me im doin stuff wrong.. and i didnt like that.. if i need help ill ask.. im not some dumb 18 yr old, that just started to workout..

thats like someone goin up to Van Halen when he was 18 and saying, ur playing guitar wrong.. this is how you do it..

and hes been playing since he was like 6.

Based on your tone, you refuse to use other peoples advice. Dumb 18 year olds tend to think they know everything, especially when it comes to training. They are convinced that Arnolds routine will work for them, but that is not the case. Even if you have been working out for a couple of years. . . you are still a newbie in my book.
